SUMMARY
Operates rubber tire roller for compacting and finishing bases and asphalt surfaces. May also steel wheel roller on bases and asphalt surfaces, including final rolling of asphalt concrete. Rides on the machine's platform and moves levers, pedals, or throttle to control and guide the machine. May oil, grease, service, and make normal operating adjustments to equipment. May perform other related duties. The job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, stretching, driving/riding, pushing/pulling of controls, vibrations, twisting, sitting, and standing. Some light lifting may be required. Uses hand tools such as wrenches and screwdrivers. May be exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather. Overtime work is required. Requires riding to and from job sites. The job duties described herein are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The criteria for evaluation in this position include but are not limited to the following:
Skillfully operates pneumatic tired and steel wheel rollers to achieve asphalt mix's surface quality and density specifications.
May occasionally operate paving equipment, including power broom, plate compactor, paving machine, shuttle buggy, or vibratory roller.
Maintains oils, greases, and services and makes normal operating adjustments to equipment.
Installs and removes traffic control devices daily.
Other miscellaneous duties include but are not limited to equipment maintenance and assisting forepersons and/or crew members as needed.
Ability to follow directions.
Occasionally performs general laboring duties, such as shoveling and raking stone, gravel, earth, and topsoil material.
Occasionally directs and guides traffic through the construction job site using proper equipment and
Regularly erects, positions, and moves sign packages safely and accurately, adhering to state Specifications. Move traffic control devices regularly, lifting 30 lbs and occasionally 100 lbs.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, inspectors, engineers, and the general public.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Report to the assigned job site in proper attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in company policy and OSHA/MSHA regulations.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
