The Job Details are as follows:

The Design Team at OCLC provides visual and experience design for OCLC’s global branding and marketing operations, as well as design direction and support for internal teams and external agencies. As a Senior Motion Graphics Designer, you will create high-impact motion graphics and visual effects for a global library member audience while contributing to a team that works with executive management, library member leadership and team members across the organization and around the world. You’ll work with creative people in a fast-paced environment with high visibility and expectations.

The Senior Motion Graphic Designer works with the content marketing team and internal customers to develop animations, effects, videos, and multimedia content in support of OCLC’s marketing programs. This includes managing activities to plan, produce, and implement animations and video products for online viewing and for use in digital marketing, including animation, video shooting, editing, and production. The Senior Motion Graphics Designer is also tasked with supporting the video team with ongoing media asset organization (back-up, archiving, clean-up, formatting, metadata application, etc.) for OCLC’s video and photo library for new and existing material.

The Senior Motion Graphic Designer thinks strategically and communicates design rationale effectively to colleagues, product teams, and management. You will have the experience and willingness to proactively lead the planning, design, and implementation of motion and video projects, balancing the needs of the end user with strategic marketing and sales objectives.

Responsibilities


  • Work with a wide range of media, after effects, graphic design, and animation software

  • Knowledge of layouts, animation fundamentals, special effects, storyboarding, storytelling, and typography

  • Develop completed and high-quality animations, in a timely manner

  • Develop expressive images and video for clients while working with other creatives

  • Support the video team with aspects of photo, audio and video production, including but not limited to transport and set up lighting, camera, audio equipment and on-camera scene/set for field shoots or for studio shoots; videotape interviews, events and b-roll in single camera or multi-camera configurations; edit single or multi-camera footage according to scripts and storyboards or loose producer guidelines.

  • Assist with larger projects at larger events as a secondary cameraperson, audio and/or lighting person, etc. when necessary for more complex shoots.

  • Edit and perform post-production work for all elements of photo, audio and video work including story, dialogue, music, sound effects, visual effects, graphics, and pace of an engaging video.

  • Assist with the creation and production of branded title slates, visuals, and presentations for virtual and live events.

  • Evaluate, select, and assemble effective footage shots into coherent whole feature episodes. Trim presentation videos to specified lengths and reassemble segments in sequence that presents a story with maximum effect.

  • Ongoing monitoring and upkeep of OCLC video asset library and archives, including local back-ups and online platforms

Qualifications

Minimum Required


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to film or broadcasting, such as communications, arts, science, fine arts, or related discipline

  • 5+ years professional design experience, preferably with a marketing or creative agency

  • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom) and experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.)

  • Knowledge of and ability to create templates for Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Experience in presentation creation and storytelling

  • Experience with digital signage and content management

  • Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio

  • Ability to multi-task, juggling a lot of projects at once while maintaining a good eye for details and still meet necessary deadlines

  • Strong problem-solving and creative-thinking skills

  • Possession of versatility, conceptual/visual ability, and originality

  • Professionalism regarding time, costs, and deadlines

  • Ability to interact, communicate, and present ideas

  • Experience in shooting live video, photography, and audio

  • Experience in setup of field and studio lighting and audio for single and multi-camera shoots

  • Experience with various software and standards for video encoding, authoring and output for distribution to various formats, including digital, web and social channels

  • Design project management experience and organizational skills

Desirable but Not Required


  • Strong design eye for storyboard concepting

  • Strong working knowledge of video asset management software, hardware and processes

  • Ability to engage stakeholders at various levels and champion large projects
