We are expanding our team to support the Edward Jones Enterprise Data Governance capability.  The Enterprise Data Governance Framework enables the firm to maximize the ability to generate value through its data in a structured, consistent, scalable, and trusted manner. Data Stewardship roles are a tangible function of the firm's data governance framework – ensuring our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle, as an enterprise asset.  Data stewards partner across the firm to ensure data is created, managed and effectively utilized as trusted enterprise assets – which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data.

This role will partner closely with the Data Governance Center of Excellence and is responsible to activate and mature a data stewardship program in support of the Experience Data Domain using the firm's newly created data governance framework.

 

The "Experience Data Owner" is accountable for maintaining data quality and integrity within the Experience sub domain, ensuring accuracy, availability, completeness and trust in the data across the enterprise. Additional responsibilities include leading and influencing the prioritization of experience data assets, ensuring sub domain data meets the needs of consuming stakeholders and supports the firm's current and future business needs. Teams delivering experiences across the firm leverage data to be relentlessly user focused. This role will lay out the sub domain strategy and enable accelerated progress towards mobilizing trusted data assets to fuel the firm's experience strategies.

The Data Owner will be responsible to lead a team who will support the data stewardship strategy, activation, and ongoing support of Experience data domain stewardship requirements through leadership of data stewards to facilitate data certification, the use of metadata playbooks, standards and policies, and support the overall data stewardship community in managing the ongoing health of our experience data assets.

What you'll do:


  • Be a change agent for data literacy, lead Data Steward team leaders, and collaborate with different parts of the organization to advance and mature our data governance posture via our stewardship community.

  • Accountable for Experience data sub domain strategy and to ensure the strategic view of data over its entire lifecycle.

  • Influence and contribute to the prioritization of firm data needs and consuming stakeholder needs by partnering across the enterprise – with data domain owners, other sub domain owners, data stewards, product teams, and business stakeholders.

  • Accountable to ensure best practices are being leveraged and enforced in firm initiatives via the stewardship community, which requires partnering closely with the Data Governance COE (center of excellence).

  • Help define, implement, and support our data stewardship operating model.

  • Partner with Data Strategy & Enablement and the Data Governance COE to define key performance indicators, including data quality, to monitor and track the health and growth of our data assets.

  • Lead and contribute to change management, communication, training, and education initiatives.

  • Responsible within their area for recruiting, hiring, and developing diverse talent necessary to fulfill our vision for the organization and achieve key outcomes.

  • Develop and manage business relationships with leaders across the organization in order to lead and contribute to key initiatives and/or respond to regulatory requests.

  • Provide thought leadership and align the work of the team to the overall strategy of Data Governance and the specific business area.


What you'll need:


  • 10+ years of experience with progressive responsibility, preferably in roles related to data governance, data management, data analytics, and/or executing strategic programs,

  • Series 99 or Series 7 required within 6 months.

  • Preference to candidates with knowledge of data governance best practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information asset.

  • Experience in Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and/or technical area of expertise.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship skills and proven verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to influence without authority and problem solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking.

  • Comfortable working through ambiguous situations to define precise requirements and priorities and drive actionable outcomes.

  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated capacity to develop and implement practical strategies, plans and solutions to identified issues and problems.


What will set you apart:


  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education & experience is required with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS.

  • Advanced degree or certification.

  • Prior leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Advanced level understanding of data and analytics. Experience in the financial services industry.

  • 3-5 years leading associates or leading in a matrixed environment on large governance projects.
