Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Metrology Engineer in Manchester, CT.

Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Metrology Engineer  will support the molding quality engineering projects as well as improvements related to applicable processes
 

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:


  • Utilize knowledge of ISO/ASME GD&T to interpret engineering layouts, drawings, and documentation of various levels of components, assemblies, and subassemblies using CAD system (i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks, Orcad).

  • Develop and use measurement methods and equipment to determine the dimension features of products conform to the design features.

  • Program and use CMM, OGP, Vision systems, CT Scanner and form tracking systems.

  • Troubleshoot OGP, CMM and CT Scanner programs and system malfunctions.

  • Manage test method equipment qualification activities in conjunction with Program management

  • Interact routinely with customers to develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation

  • Perform inspection and testing of molded components and assemblies for conformance to design and configuration requirements

  • Optimize inspection methods to expedite inspections and manage equipment capacity

  • Train colleagues / technicians/inspectors on vision system (i.e. – OGP), Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM), and CT Scanner operation for parts being ran on production floor

  • Compile and analyze measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability

  • Identify and Report Non-conformances of product or processes.

  • Perform workmanship evaluations on plastic parts (flash, damage, discoloration, contamination, etc.) to aid in disposition of nonconforming product

  • Devise sampling procedures and design and develop forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.

  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.

  • Support Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.

  • Assist with development and implementation of quality audits.

  • Responsible for developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.

  • Approve product, process and equipment qualification.

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree (industry experience may substitute)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience

  • Strong experience writing and developing inspection plans and visual defect references

  • Working knowledge of CAPA (corrective and preventative action) and FMEA

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple functional technologies/ processes related to product manufacturing including molding

  • Knowledge of Process Validation (IQ/OQ/PQ)

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:


  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance to ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR 820

  • Vision and/or Coordinate Measurement Machine certificate (Measure X, MeasureMind, Calypso), or relevant experience. GD&T Certification.

  • ASQ certification as CQE, or CQT, preferred.

  • Quality experience in the Medical Device industry
