Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Metrology Engineer in Manchester, CT.

Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Senior Metrology Engineer  will be responsible for the development of test methods and procedures needed to determine the dimensional features of products, validation and production inspections of all products produced from manufacturing and assembly processes supporting the molding sites located in Buffalo Grove, IL and Manchester, CT

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do:


  • Utilize knowledge of ISO/ASME GD&T to interpret engineering layouts, drawings, and documentation of various levels of components, assemblies, and subassemblies using CAD system (i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks, Orcad).

  • Develop and use measurement methods and equipment to determine the dimension features of products conform to the design features.

  • Program and use CMM, OGP, Vision systems, CT Scanner and form tracking systems.

  • Troubleshoot OGP, CMM and CT Scanner programs and system malfunctions.

  • Manage test method equipment qualification activities in conjunction with Quality Engineering and Program management

  • Interact routinely with customers to develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation

  • Develop and design measurement fixtures and programs for use by quality inspectors and production personnel

  • Perform Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GRR) studies to evaluate measurement methods

  • Provide on site support for implementation of metrology programs upon completion of design and measurement system verification

  • Aid in selection and management of fixture, program and equipment suppliers.

  • Utilize inspection measurement tools (i.e. micrometers, calipers, drop indicators, thread gauges, plug gauges, comparators etc.)

  • Optimize inspection methods to expedite inspections and manage equipment capacity

  • Train colleagues / technicians/inspectors on vision system (i.e. – OGP), Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM), and CT Scanner operation for parts being ran on production floor

  • Compile and analyze measurement data and statistics to assess measurement methods and process capability.

  • Assure data availability and integrity for all quality related data. Consolidate and report quality results.

  • Identify and Report Non-conformances of product or processes.

  • Provide support for Corrective Action investigations

Here is some of what you’ll need (required):


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related degree (industry experience may substitute)

  • Minimum 6 years of Quality experience in the Medical Device industry

  • Strong experience writing and developing inspection plans and visual defect references

  • Knowledge of Process Validation for medical device industry (IQ/OQ/PQ)

  • Working knowledge of CAPA (corrective and preventative action) and FMEA

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple functional technologies/ processes related to product manufacturing including molding

  • Strong verbal, customer-facing, and written communication skills

  • This role may require up to 25% travel
