We are seeking a full-time Senior Windows Systems Administrator for our headquarters in the greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for leading administration of technology by contributing expertise in researching new technologies and proposing cost effective solutions.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Facilitates team discussions and plans and contributes innovative suggestions within area of discipline
Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s windows server computing systems
Researches new technologies, performs and evaluates cost analyses and vendor comparisons from small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations
Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
Continuously develops technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems and other server-based technologies
Communicates effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
Understands and avoids capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of server, storage, email, file, and collaboration systems
Ensures that all security requirements are met or exceeded
Develops reliable solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
Leads major incident troubleshooting involving multiple disciplines
Recognized as an innovative expert in assigned discipline at Garmin and applies extensive technical expertise and analysis to initiatives and provides significant contributions to defining team roadmap and priorities while serving as a leader of change
Facilitates team discussions and meetings, contributes input to broader technology solutions outside of discipline, and coordinates department level non-project changes
Provides 24x7 on-call support
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or related field AND a minimum of 9 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to author and implement basic scripting and coding to automate technical needs such as to move files, backup, create configuration, or other tasks
Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively and demonstrated quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
Experience with one or more of the following: Citrix, Thycotic, SCCM, Exchange, SolarWinds or other Enterprise monitoring systems
Working in an Agile team environment
