What we expect

OVERALL POSITION PURPOSE:

To provide leadership and strategic direction over the Human Resources Department's operations and activities, including talent acquisition, information systems/records, classification and compensation, civil service, employee and labor relations, benefits administration, wellness, occupational health & safety, ADA, risk management, workers compensation, affirmative action, etc. The Lead of HR supports the TK Airport Systems leadership establishing strategy and objectives for the team, leading or coordinating projects, scoping and determining required process and supporting the business operations of the Company.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • Conducts research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organizations human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
  • Monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and modifies policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Facilitates professional development, training, and certification activities for HR staff.
  • Responsible for assisting President with administrative issues.
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly invoice for health, dental, life insurance and long term disability coverage.

  • Labor Relations:
  • Negotiates, administers and manages administration of the local union labor contract; provides interpretation of labor contract to managers, supervisors, employees and HR staff; oversees processes for review and resolution of employee grievances.
  • Advises management and employees on sensitive labor and employee relations matters, including grievance and arbitration procedures, performance issues and disciplinary actions; advises and assists managers in identifying employee relations issues and determining appropriate course of action.
  • Serves as the Company's chief negotiator in contract negotiations with recognized employee organizations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of employee and labor relations trends, legal decisions, and statutory changes; conducts research necessary to support contract negotiations and employee relations.
  • Uses appropriate negotiation strategies to develop bargaining goals and negotiate contracts consistent with the Company's mission, values and goals.
  • Facilitates on-going communication and working relationships with employee representative organizations including coordination of joint labor-management committees.
  • Manages the process to investigate and respond to complaints from the Bureau of Labor or other agencies.
  • Represent the Company in arbitrations and Employment Relations Board hearings related to unfair labor practice complaints.

    QUALIFICATIONS OF POSITION HOLDER:

    Expert Know How/Knowledge:

    • SAP experience and MS Office.

      • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

      • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all employment, salary, legal and business matters

      • Ability to lead processes towards an effective and efficient working environment

      • Assure hiring practices are legal and support EEOC objectives

      • Bring employee issues outside of job scope to appropriate manager

      • Maintain salary structure for all salaried and hourly personnel

      • Keep up to date on employment laws

      • Stay abreast of all new personnel requirements and implement changes to existing policies

      • Ability to assess and maintain accurate data

      • Ability to speak, read and write Spanish desired

      • Ability to provide professional level customer service

      • Impeccable attention to detail, effective problem solving skills.

    Expected (Educational) Qualifications:
    • 5 or more years in HR Generalist/Manager role (facilities larger than 100 employees)

    Previous experience working in union environment or union avoidance

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING

    • Bachelor's in HR Management or equivalent HR experience

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


    • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, highly desirable.

    • Bilingual English/Spanish
