Youth Ministry Associate at North Naples United Methodist Church

Job Description:

​North Naples Church is accepting applications for the position of Youth Ministry Coordinator.  The schedule is 16 hours per week including Sundays and additional flexible hours during the week.  
The Youth Ministry Coordinator supports the mission of North Naples Church by assisting the Director of Next Generation Ministry with preparation and implementation of programming for youth and young professionals. This position helps middle and high school students grow in their Christian faith by leading connection opportunities and activities, assisting with programming, and performing administrative tasks in support of the ministry.  
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Assist with implementation of youth programming on Sundays

  • Assist in leading large groups and facilitating small groups using provided curriculum

  • Lead and participate in activities and games and other connection opportunities

  • Serve as a point of contact for ministry volunteers, parents, and participants 

  • Prepare and organize spaces; assist with clean up and organization of materials at the end of programming

  • Prepare for weekly Sunday programming and other programs and events by meeting with the Director regularly, preparing materials using provided curriculum, and planning various youth activities and games; purchase supplies as necessary

  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing additional programming to support the goals of the ministry; current programs and major events include Café, Summer League, Young Professionals, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Village Chapel, service projects, retreats, and mission trips

  • Maintain accurate records on an ongoing basis to ensure up-to-date information for class lists, email distribution lists/groups, attendance, and volunteer records


  • Create communications and marketing materials for small-scale communications and assist with maintaining next generation ministry’s social media presence

  • Assist in recruiting, training and equipping ministry volunteers

  • Perform other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education is required.  Associate’s degree or higher preferred.  At least 1 year of experience working or volunteering in a Christian environment and/or working with youth.  

  • Excellent ability to inspire and equip youth and young adults to grow in their faith as followers of Jesus

  • Excellent communication skills including writing skills, oral presentation skills, and the ability to prepare and teach lessons and concepts following a curriculum

  • Ability to creatively plan and implement worship activities and fun events for youth

  • Strong computer skills, including ability to use technology and equipment to present curriculum, maintain accurate database information, schedule meetings and events, and create small-scale marketing materials

  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and work in a fast paced environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail is required

  • Demonstrated ability to actively listen and display empathy and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters

  • Demonstrate character, core values and personal lifestyle compatible with a Christ-centered ministry and be willing to embrace the mission and strategic plans of North Naples Church

  • Physically, this position requires the ability to engage in high energy physical activity in a group setting, walk, stand, stoop, reach, sit at a desk, and lift up to 10 lbs; occasional overnight travel is required.
