An internship is a temporary position within 3M. Interns typically work a full-time schedule throughout a 10-12 week assignment.  This position is limited to working 899 hours per service credit year.  3M provides eligible interns with temporary housing and round-trip travel reimbursement in accordance with current policy.

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military environments to a 3M career.

IT Internship assignments are available for both Technical and Business roles and are in the following areas:

• 
  Digital Transformation. This organization provides enterprise-wide strategy for digital customer, digital product, digital operations and digital enterprise. The team investigates and drives implementation of new processes and technologies within the 3M business groups in order to drive growth and enhance customer experience. The team owns the digital product commercialization process, which includes development, project management and platform support. Data analytics supports master data management, big data, data intelligence and advanced analytics. Teams within DT with internship opportunities include Data & Analytics, 3M Connect, and Transformation & Technology – with both business and technical analyst positions.

• 
  SAP Center of Excellence. This organization develops and delivers integrated global ERP solution to maximum value to 3M. The SAP COE focuses on providing an optimized experience for both customers and employees through an end-to-end process focus, which allows global teams to work differently and drive growth and productivity. Internship opportunities include business, technical analyst and developer roles in process teams such as supply chain, order management, quality and many other.

• 
  Enterprise Applications. This organization unlocks the power of digital technologies through leading edge technology & solutions to consolidate systems into platforms for common processes & data, which improve customer and employee experiences. The teams within this area work across manufacturing execution, research and development, corporate staff groups, customer-facing applications and many others. Internship opportunities are available for business analysis, technical analysis, user experience and development.

• 
  Infrastructure Transformation. This organization provides flexible, enterprise-wide technologies to enable solutions and enhance platform performance and reliability to 3M’s customers, suppliers and employees. Infrastructure Transformation deploys and supports both on-premise and cloud technologies globally. Teams with internship opportunities include networking, edge computing, platform engineering, web hosting and others.

• 
  Information Security, Risk & Compliance. It is our responsibility to protect our intellectual property, non-public company information and data, the information and privacy of our workers, entrusted information from our customers and business partners, and our business and manufacturing environments.  We protect against cyber-attacks and data breaches and ensure that we prevent unauthorized access and cyber threats. The organization includes business and technical analysis roles within Risk & Compliance, Security Delivery & Architecture, Cybersecurity Operations, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity Transformation.

• 
  IT Services & Strategy. This organization is a centralized service to optimize and orchestrate cross-functional delivery execution in the IT organization. The team provides strategic leadership within IT for activities including mergers & acquisitions, workforce planning, facilities, global service center operations, vendor management, and lean six sigma and agile practices. Internship opportunities are primarily for business analyst roles.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in information technology, management information systems, computer science, computer engineering or a STEM related discipline from an accredited institution


• Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale


• Previous internship experience


• Previous experience working in Information Technology


• Excellent communication skills
