Mortgage Loan Officer at Royal Credit Union

Job Description:


The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) is responsible for origination of residential mortgage loans as well as lot, construction, and bridge loans. Conducts initial pre-qualification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation. Convey policies for extension of credit in accordance with Credit Union and secondary investor guidelines. Meet Mortgage Loan scheduling and documentation requirements, and production expectations as determined by the Regional Mortgage Sales Manager. Establish prospective relationships outside the office as well as serving existing Members, builders, developers, and Realtors promptly and professionally. 


Work Schedule:

Full-time, Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 5 PM with additional weekend and evening hours as needed.


Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in Mortgage Loan Origination utilizing technology to originate the loans and using digital documentation.

  • Assume responsibility for the effective and professional completion of loan origination functions by interviewing mortgage loan applicants, completing mortgage loan applications, and processing preliminary documentation on loan requests.

  • Discuss loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from Members. 

  • Notify Member if loan is referred back to Officer because of problem ratios or credit ratings.

  • Council Members whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives. Council Members regarding money management and financial matters. 

  • Complete lending operations in accordance with established Credit Union policies and legal requirements. 

  • Assume responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members, Realtors and building professionals.

  • Make sales calls to potential and existing Members to retain current business and to develop new loans.

  • Communicate and live RCU's core purpose and values, these define and drive our organizational culture.


Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Management.

  • Five (5) years Mortgage Loan Origination related experience.

  • Royal Credit Union experience.

  • Sales experience with growing and developing sales strategies.
