SUMMARY:


 


Reporting to the Campus Executive Director, and working closely with the Regional Director, Career Services develops, implements and coordinates a career counseling and employment assistance program for the students and alumni to include counseling with students in the establishment of realistic career plans and objectives, establishing and maintaining liaison with employer representatives; and conducting studies of career development patterns and employment trends to provide input for possible curriculum changes.  Supervises, trains, and motivates the career services staff to attain or surpass campus employment success goals; providing excellent customer service in accordance with the mission and purpose of the school and assuring compliance with federal, state and program employment rate requirements.

Working closely with the Regional Director, Career Services plans, directs and oversees the day to day operation of all career services and related activities that support graduating student program employment.


Establishes and maintains liaison with representatives from employer organizations, agencies and corporations to promote and coordinate recruiting visits to the school; coordinates the scheduling of interviews between representatives and qualified applicants for placement.


Plans, develops, and maintains active external employer job listing to assist students with temporary job placements during school; coordinates with employers to develop job orders and updates as necessary; refers students to job openings.


Interviews and corresponds with current student and alumni applicants; discusses personnel needs and applicant qualifications with employer representatives to ensure proper referral and employment of applicants and to gain additional information concerning job and career opportunities; maintains liaison with recent graduates and alumni to follow-up on career progress.


Maintains records of employment assistance activities; conducts research and prepares special reports and analyses with appropriate recommendations or conclusions concerning the impact of employment assistance activities and illustrates current and future employment trends.


Obtains, organizes, files and displays guidance materials; catalogs and prepares for use by students; maintains displays and bulletin boards.


Plans, organizes and conducts Career Days or Job Fairs and develops and implements publications; letters, flyers, mailers and other materials for the events.


Assists students with resume development, interviewing skills, proper demeanor, attire and other related areas to ensure successful job employment.


Conducts employment assistance workshops and mock interviews for students. Works with students to develop and promote soft skills required to be successful in an entry level career field.


Resolves routine to moderately complex student employment and career issues, questions and problems for all staff in the Career Services department.


Contacts, schedules and arranges guest speakers from the local business community to present information regarding specific employment opportunities.


Develops and maintains a current and comprehensive occupational library including information on careers and career clusters, employment prospects and trends and employment requirements and opportunities; obtains and circulate current college catalogs.


Prepares and delivers informational presentations as requested; orients students to Career Services resources and services.


Attends meetings, conferences and seminars regarding career trends, college entrance and financial aid.


Maintains close liaison with other campus departments such as admissions, student services, financial aid, and information technology.


Represents the school at community/promotional events, new student orientations, and associate orientations to raise the visibility of the school among its various publics.


Ensures and protects the privacy and confidentiality of student academic records as appropriate.


Ensures timely completion of associate performance appraisals, conflict resolution, performance improvement and/or counseling to manage and achieve enrollment goals and objectives.


Stays current with legislation, state, and federal requirements related to career services and records.


Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates department staff; improves retention and morale and performance efficiencies.


Participates as part of Campus Management Team, partnering with colleagues to ensure positive student outcomes.


Participates in professional development and organizations in order to maintain an understanding of current ideas, research and practices, attends meetings, workshops and seminars to enrich personal growth, knowledge and skill in management development.


Maintains professional appearance for position and serves as a role model, leader and mentor to the campus community.


Adheres to College policies and procedures and provides leadership to all staff through guidance and example.


Maintains regular and timely attendance, reports to work as scheduled and assures time worked and/or time-off is recorded properly.


Conducts job responsibilities in accordance with the standards set out in the College’s Ethics Code of Business Conduct, Corporate Compliance Agreement, its policies and procedures, applicable federal and states laws, and applicable professional standards.


Maintains confidentiality of all customer, student, associate, and/or company information as required.


Exercises care, proper use and maintenance of department equipment and supplies and identifies unsafe conditions and makes appropriate adjustments.


Ensures all accreditation standards and compliance standards are adhered to including accurate and appropriate documentation and verification.


Works closely with academic team to ensure students complete externship and follow all appropriate educational guidelines.


Maintains order, cleanliness and safety at work.


Performs other job duties as assigned.


 


EDUCATION:


 


Associates degree in education, administration, business management or related field required.


Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, business management or related field preferred.


 


LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:


None required.


KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:


Three to five years of overall experience in career counseling/student services, placement projects, tasks and management.


Evidence of strong supervisory and managerial skills, including budgets, assessment and evaluation skills.


Experience with career services information management systems, internship programs and employer relations.


Knowledge of career and occupational resources, trends, and opportunities, basic research methods and college admission requirements, financial aid requirements, and training necessary for future careers.


Experience with MS Office. 


Knowledge of applicable databases and computer application systems to supply the most accurate information, reports and projections.


Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulations relating to programs, governmental compliance and other regulatory standards such as Title IV, ABHES, BPPE, and other accreditation standards.
