Job Description:

Deliverables/Principal Results Expected:
• Supervises the counselors.
• Evaluates potential clients for the appropriate level of care requirements and identifies their DSM IVTR
diagnoses, Axis I-V.
• Assists the counselors in the development of the treatment plans.
• Facilitates treatment team meetings and participates in case consults.
• Provides individual and group supervision to the counselors and other staff as assigned.
• Attends shift change and company meetings.
• Maintains caseload as needed.
• Assists the Program Director in developing new programs for the facility.
• Attends trainings as necessary.
• Clerical duties as required for maintenance of client files.
• Listens to clients concerning all areas of treatment.
• Maintains safe, orderly and therapeutic environment for clients including crisis intervention.
• Ensures clinical program occurs daily as scheduled.

Technical Competencies: Capable of role modeling to the clients and staff. Helps to maintain strong clinical
program through leadership of staff team. Maintains positive relationship with referral sources and families.
Maintains compliance with documentation in charts through oversight and audit procedures. Follows all licensing
regulations. Carry out treatment philosophy and mission of organization. Complete required trainings and
mandatory training hours. Strong clinical skills in D&A and mental health treatment. A working knowledge of
HIPAA, OMSAS, Licensing and CARF regulations. Strong computer skills.

Education, Experience:
1) A Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social
work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related
field and 2 years of clinical experience in a health and human services agency which includes 1 year of
working directly with the chemically dependent.
2) 2) A Bachelor’s Degree with the same educational requirements and 3 years of clinical experience in a
health and human services agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically
dependent.
3) 3) An Associates Degree with the same educational requirements and 4 years of clinical experience in a
health and human services agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically
dependent.
4) Full certification as an addictions counselor by a statewide certification body, which is a member of a
National certification body or certification by another state government’s substance abuse counseling
certification and 3 years of clinical experience in a health and human services agency which includes 1
year of working directly with the chemically dependent.
Facilitating process group therapy, individual therapy and family therapy. Drug and Alcohol/Mental Health
experience. Treatment planning experience. Previous supervisory experience.
