JOB SUMMARY:
The Cardiac Data Abstractor work provides information for and supports the organization's Strategic Plan, Quality and Patient Safety Plan and designated operational and clinical priorities for care directly impacting the organization's reimbursement and collected revenue. Facilitates the reporting of data which is abstracted from medical records, entered into appropriate databases and reported to medical staff, clinical and ancillary staff, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Joint Commission.
Job Tasks and Responsibility:
1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
2. *Abstracts data from open and closed medical records.
3. *Interprets and clarifies definitions of needed data; assists in establishing sample and
data strategies; utilizes data collection techniques as needed and maintains a specified
level of accuracy with data collection.
4. *Ensures that all appropriate data are entered into respective registries/databases,
verifying accuracy and completeness of data.
5. *Provides interpretation regarding data abstraction and promotes an understanding of
evidence-based best practices for medical, clinical and ancillary staff.
6. *Facilitates communication of identified improvement opportunities among members
of the health care team for individual and aggregate patient care.
7. *Assures data integrity by maintaining pass protection rights.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in Nursing or related clinical allied health profession required. Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience commensurate with licensure/degree required. Prior clinical quality or compliance experience preferred.
