The Maintenance Manager is a critical role within the District trucking operations. This position is responsible for the overall accountability for managing the maintenance of the truck fleet, trailers, and ensuring services performed are performed with the highest of quality and in a timely manner so as to keep SandBox’s assets safely and productively on the road.


Essential Job Functions:



  • Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment.

  • Communicates availability of vehicles for service with Fleet Managers and/or other operations personnel.

  • Tracks all mileages of vehicles.

  • Tracks all hours of equipment. 

  • Supervises maintenance operations.

  • Plans and distributes the work.

  • Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance.

  • Involved in reviewing personnel actions (e.g., hiring, promotions and discipline), and recommending appropriate actions to management.

  • Works closely with District Manager providing status of maintenance and budget requirements.

  • Oversee parts inventory and ensure your district is compliant on inventory counts. 

  • Reviews repair orders.

  • Give final approval on all maintenance invoices to be paid.

  • Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements.

  • Ensures all company safety policies and standards are followed and conducts daily safety meeting.

  • Must have working knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of servicing and repairing vehicles and equipment; drive trains, suspensions and braking systems, heating and air conditioning, electrical, air, hydraulic and other related systems; the use and operation of tools and machinery used in vehicle and equipment repair work, the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.

  • Identifies and recommends actions to improve operating efficiency and control costs.

  • Schedule and ensure yard hands, parts attendants and mechanics are staffed.

  • Manager with direct Reports.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills: 



  • High School diploma required. 

  • Advanced degree highly preferred.

  • Or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Five plus years of heavy duty diesel mechanic experience.

  • Strong trouble shooting skills.

  • Strong verbal, written and computer skills needed.

  • Must be very reliable, able to work well under pressure and have the ability to organize and prioritize work.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members.

  • Possess a valid driver's license.

  • CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements.
