(This position is a hybrid remote work position. While most work can be done remotely, attendance in the Mundelein, IL office will be required on occasion on short notice. Individuals must be located within a reasonable commute distance to accommodate.)

JOB SUMMARY

The Network Engineer is primarily responsible for designing, implementing and building branch infrastructure used to support Medline's business needs. Help ensure maximum availability, reliability, and performance of related infrastructure, systems and network-related applications. This position may travel domestically to our branch locations up to 25% per year.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with low voltage vendors to provide cable infrastructure for network, paging and security camera installation.

Work to resolve trouble tickets generated for the team by the corporate helpdesk system.

Configure, deploy and maintain networking solutions of Medline's LAN, WAN, WLAN, SDWAN, Cloud and Network Security focused infrastructure.

Identify and resolve network problems including routing, switching, wireless connectivity, and application performance issues.

Collaborate with team members to generate documentation for project overviews, process and validation.

Gain an understanding of network monitoring applications, including alert configuration, new device provisioning and general day-to-day functioning of the monitoring tool set.

Analyze performance data and metrics, identify problem areas and provide actionable insight to problem resolution.

Act as a point of escalation for other IS teams regarding network infrastructure issues.

Drive issues to closure by engaging appropriate resources.

Participate in on-call rotation of designated network resources.

Collaborate with Sr. Network Engineers for business continuity review and execution.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar preferred.

CCNP preferred.

Work Experience

5 years of experience as a Network Engineer preferred.

Experience with Cisco SD WAN preferred.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Self-starter with ability to prioritize many projects and problems independently.

Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.

Ability to troubleshoot LAN/WAN & application performance problems to resolution in multitasking environments. Layer 1 through Layer 7.

Strong interpersonal skills with a desire to collaborate with internal and external business/technical teams.

Ability to work out of any of Medline's Chicagoland area facilities on any given day.

Communications: Excellent interpersonal, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communication skills tailored for the intended audience.

Physical Demands: Candidate must be able to lift and move equipment up to 30 lbs. Must be able to install and route cables inside of equipment rack cabinets and small equipment rooms.

Occasional extended work hours and weekends required for maintenance activities.

Up to 25% overnight travel may be required.
