Job-Specific Responsibilities

The Term Sr. Talent Acquisition Consultant will actively recruit for a myriad of departments across Harvard's Central Administration representing a diverse portfolio of administrative, academic, business, and artistic units. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support and consultation to hiring managers on all aspects of the recruitment and hiring process including hiring strategies, data-driven analytics, coaching and guidance on best practices and sourcing trends. Responsible for recommending and executing talent acquisition strategy to ensure successful candidate searches within identified time frames. Provide labor market assessment/analysis to hiring managers including market conditions, candidate availability, and other benchmarks. Maintain strong partnership with department leaders in assigned areas to ensure a clear understanding of business needs.

This role will be able to create a positive candidate experience (for both internal and external candidates) throughout the recruiting process. Coach and advise hiring managers on interviewing techniques and legal issues regarding hiring practices. Maintain and coordinate advertising/marketing strategies. Provide training to hiring managers, search committees, and stakeholders as needed. Ensure compliance with Harvard University policies, state and federal laws relating to recruitment and hiring. Represents Central Administration client groups at conferences and various career events.

This role will proactively develop and maintain a pipeline of highly qualified talent that are available to present to hiring managers, cultivates candidate pools and manages candidate engagement using contemporary and "high-touch" methods. Identifies and develops sourcing and networking strategies and utilizes social media platforms to advertise, find talent, and communicate with potential candidates. This person also ensures that recruitment plans demonstrate measurable commitment to diversity and supports Central Administrations' diversity recruitment goals/initiatives by participating in and promoting programs that attract qualified candidates from underrepresented groups. Maintain and build relationships and partnerships with national, state, local, community-based, and professional organizations. Uses affirmative action plan and labor market information to identify strategic diversity recruitment sources.


Typical Core Duties

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that identify top tier talent pools in an effort to ensure timely hires and manage long-term candidate networking relationships
  • Partner with clients to provide expertise in initiating, implementing, and evaluating recruiting practices
  • Review and streamline all recruiting processes and practices
  • Analyze and use recruiting data to improve employee recruitment
  • Conduct executive level searches
  • Negotiate offers and communicate important employment information to candidates; follow up with candidates and hiring managers to obtain feedback regarding recruitment
  • Develop and implement diversity programs and initiatives that support hiring goals and EEO compliance
  • Develop and implement advertising and social media recruitment strategy
  • Plan, organize, and implement outreach efforts (college recruitment, diversity recruitment etc.); represent the University at recruiting events
  • May Function as subject matter expert or project lead
  • May review and classify positions for both salary grade and FLSA status
  • May partner with Central Recruitment Services in areas such as vendor relations, recruitment compliance, systems (ASPIRE) support, university-wide initiatives, etc.
  • Adhere to OFCCP and AA/EEO regulations and established Harvard policies and procedures for compliant recruiting; work with hiring managers to build a diverse, representative workforce


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience


Additional Qualifications and Skills


  • Master's degree in relevant field

  • Strong organizational skills, MS Office proficiency, a multi-tasking style and project management approach.

  • Advanced knowledge of labor markets, recruiting practices and marketing resources.

  • Demonstrated use of social media and internet sourcing for recruitment.

  • Experience building strong business relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.

  • Strong sourcing and networking skills. Exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written/verbal communication, negotiation, and analytical skills, and the ability to make presentations.

  • Demonstrated understanding of OFCCP compliance requirements and regulations.

  • Creative problem solver with ability to work independently and as part of team.

  • Demonstrated ability in effectively managing multiple searches and stakeholders.
