The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:


  • Driving significant quality improvements through a global, division initiative

  • Leading existing product quality enhancements through use of continuous improvement methodologies and tools, such as:  Six Sigma, Product and Process Understanding (PPU), Design of Experiments (DOE), Customer Quality Index (CQI) and Quality at the Source

  • Leading quality deliverables as a key team member for new product commercialization programs 

  • Assuring compliance to internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and external standards. Leading Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Risk Management, Issue Reviews, and change control

  • Representing the customer, evaluating customer complaints and issues, samples and trends, and determining necessary action plans

  • Interacting with and supporting our plant manufacturing locations (traveling to plant sites as necessary)

  • Fostering a quality environment and mindset throughout the business

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or science discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Three (3) years of combined experience in a Manufacturing/Production, Quality and/or Laboratory role in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:


  • Previous experience leading Quality Assurance (QA) efforts for marketed products and/or new product introduction teams

  • Previous manufacturing plant experience

  • Product and process understanding experience, including use of applied statistics and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement and lead change

  • Previous experience working in a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or other regulated environment on medical device, drug, water, or food contact products

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: Is authorized
