VHB's growing Watertown, MA headquarters is seeking a Highway Project Manager to join our Transportation team. Location is flexible for the right candidate.

In this position, you would be responsible for the management of transportation engineering projects covering roadways, bikeways, and utility design. Duties include overseeing traffic engineering, stormwater management, drainage, temporary traffic control, traffic signals, construction observation, cost estimating and construction administration. Our team uses its skills and experience to improve our communities with a sustainable, context-driven and integrated project delivery mindset. Our clients include local municipalities, MassDOT, DCR and other state public transportation agencies, and private partners who support the development of the places we live, work, recreate and learn.

About the Position

Highway Project Manager | Watertown, MA

Responsibilities:

• Managing large multi-disciplinary highway reconstruction projects, both traditional bid-build and alternate delivery (Design-Build, PPP, etc.)


• Working with Contractors for the delivery of Design-Build projects.


• Training / mentoring junior staff in various aspects of highway design.


• Assisting with the production and delivering transportation projects through the construction administration phase


• Pre-design project planning and financial management


• Design of highways and roads including the development of geometric layout, grading, and drainage, working with utilities, and environmental permitting


• Development of technical design and specification documents

Qualifications:

• BS in Civil Engineering required. MS in Civil Engineering or another related field is a plus


• Minimum of 15 years of roadway experience, with at least 10 years of experience managing highway design projects.


• Current PE in Massachusetts or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Massachusetts PE license within six months.


• Experience with MassDOT and MassDOT-funded municipal roadway improvement projects a strong plus


• Experience with Design-Build a plus


• Must have valid driver's license, as the position requires occasional travel to client meetings and project sites
