POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Head of Strategy & Operations role for PDT IT is responsible for strategic initiatives, IT governance, communication, financial discipline, and portfolio management of data, digital, and technology solutions for PDT IT. It drives IT productivity & performance, streamlining strategic initiatives, and communicating objectives between teams. The role will report to the Global Head of PDT IT and participate as a member of the management team.


  • Oversee strategic initiatives from development through successful execution in close collaboration with the PDT IT LT. Guide and influence LT members in decision-making processes, program and portfolio management, and initiate and oversee the implementation

  • Manage the IT governance for the team, collaborating with the IT Strategy and Operations team and the Chief of Staff of different PDT functions

  • Overview review, design, and lead execution on improvements to org structure lead the identification of knowledge and skills gaps and help address them. Oversees the improvement of current processes and coordinates organizational procedures for optimized efficiency and productivity.

  • Provides strong, reliable leadership while promoting customer focus, risk-based decision making, continual improvement, and operational readiness within the PDT IT organization.

  • Elaborates the data, digital and information technology needs through services experience, leadership, business knowledge, and technology expertise.

  • Proactively engage across IT domains to understand current and future direction and collaborate with the PDT IT leaders to design, plan, and prioritize a data, digital, and technology strategy, roadmap, and portfolio of products and projects to solve the identified issues.


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:


  • Partner with the PDT IT stakeholders to ensure business alignment at the strategic, tactical, and operational levels. Aim to prioritize the IT requirements, investment, and roadmap alignment. Maximize the value impact of data, digital, and technology.

  • Development of high-level plans for strategic initiatives and serve as a subject matter expert during the design and execution of strategy.

  • Lead the development of content for and the support of key communications for the Global Head of PDT IT. This is inclusive of written, virtual, and face-to-face communications.

  • Partner with peers on the department’s leadership team, inclusive of the matrixed-in supporting functions (e.g. Finance, HR, Procurement, etc.) to provide a holistic ‘score card’ view of all internal operations’ status and plans (e.g., headcount, budget, key initiatives, etc.)

  • Manage organizational and business enabling technology strategic planning for the department.  Ensure alignment of strategy with governance activities and recruitment/hiring plan.

  • Manage the target IT end state in collaboration with business stakeholders and other IT groups, plan and align the resource requirements and capacities regarding priorities and roadmap.

  • Ensure the development of the domain-specific IT strategies for different site and operational units, support and align site IT master planning with global and local PDT partners, and drive execution.

  • Drive operational excellence, simplification, new ways of working, methods (e.g., Agile, DevOps, user experience) to increase the value impact on business. Support scale-up of good practices and solutions across functions.

  • Effectively balance the unique needs of supported functions with the corporate objective to globalize and standardize technologies and processes across all of PDT IT.

  • Ensures execution of global governance from the local level to global, in partnership with the IT Strategy and Operations team and PDT Chief of Staff.

  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders of strategic vendors, service providers, and other external collaborators to improve productivity, consolidate vendors, and implement a consistent location and make vs buy strategy.

  • Develop global teams and services towards the target, develop key talent, drive succession planning for critical roles and efforts in “being digital”.

  • Manage team's activities within the established budget, and continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining agreed service levels and performance targets.

EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES, AND SKILLS:


  • Bachelor's Degree is required; a graduate degree in a relevant field is desired.

  • 10+ years of experience in Information Technology

  • 5+ years of experience in people management

  • Prior experience working with and managing third-party service providers preferred

  • Ability to reprioritize and quickly change directions while ensuring key deliverables are on track and key deadlines are being met.

  • Ability to focus leadership on key tasks and keep them organized. Manage and prioritize all the “irons in the fire” while helping the Global Head of PDT IT focus on what needs attention.

  • Understand current and emerging technologies and their potential application and translate those into business opportunities, cases, needs, and implementation roadmaps

  • Process improvement experience to identify and work with management to implement processes and structure across org to ensure consistency, efficiency, quality product and deliverables, as well as metrics to measure.

  • Proven skills in negotiation, influencing without authority , and working diplomatically through conflict.

  • Proven competencies in stakeholder alignment, business need analysis, customer focus, and result focus, delivery, and people management.

  • Experience directly & routinely interacting with senior executives
