Position Summary: 

The Leave Specialist provides administrative and transactional support services for employees' leave of absence requests. Services include advising employees and manager on all leave of absence policies and processes (i.e. FMLA, Military, Jury, Bereavement, Company specific leave (workers compensation and Sabbatical), etc.), support for HR Professionals, Payroll/HRIS updates, employee and manager communications and case tracking. Exhibits strong commitment to the service needs of the internal and external customer. Represents the company in a professional and courteous manner.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Coordinates the leave process with employee, vendor, and internal teams. Including follow up on approvals, respond to vendor requested items, and ensure timely internal communication occurs.

  • Advises employees, managers and HR Professionals on leave policies and processes.

  • Track employee absences as reported via web, fax, phone and e-mail.

  • Responsible for resolving issues by interacting with Human Resources, payroll or leave vendor.

  • Supports in-bound and outbound employee leave related calls.

  • Apply concepts and rules as mandated by guidelines for FMLA and other federally or state mandated or company specific leaves in coordination with internal policies.

  • Throughout the duration of the leave, specialist is responsible for all communications with the employee, the employee's manager, Human Resources and Payroll/HRIS to coordinate concurrent short-term disability benefits.

  • Throughout the duration of the leave, specialist is responsible for tracking and entering time detailed pay information for proper processing of inhouse pay.

  • Utilizes HR information system (Paycom) and web-based vendor software as needed to input and update leave data and generate reports.

  • Assists in the identification of recommendations to positively impact the efficiency and quality of service delivery.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree preferred or relevant business experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of leave of absence processing or Human Resources experience required.

  • Ability to use and navigate web-based software programs and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.).

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Desired Qualifications/Skills:


  • Experience with Paycom a plus

  • Previous property management industry experience

Work Schedule: 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday, or as needed to meet business needs.
