Senior Manufacturing Engineer at Cummins

Job Description:

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:


  • Leading the work for specific projects to create and implement all aspects of a manufacturing processes to ensure safety requirements, manufacturing goals, business goals, and product specifications are met.

  • Lead by applying the knowledge or use of manufacturing principles and practices to improve manufacturing equipment and processes.

  • Impacting the work by utilizing continuous improvement tools, following the Cummins standards, and leading the development of manufacturing standards and working methods.

  • Lead the communications with and influences key external stakeholders, business leaders, and functional members.

  • Working with internal and external resources on specific project assignments.

  • Lead the advanced knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices as they are applied to Cummins.

  • Maintaining relationships and coaching key stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills:


  • Work Measurement - Quantifies and evaluates the elements of work that make up a process by breaking it down into detailed steps to identify and reduce waste and redistribute work content to optimize process flows.

  • Line Balancing - Evaluates work activities performed by individuals or machines to identify opportunities to optimize operating time and distributing of the work content to meet the changes in customer demands while continuing to optimize manufacturing processes.

  • Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization.

  • Workstation Design - Designs operator workstation that are safe, healthy, and ergonomic while accounting for cost, quality, and delivery to contribute to an efficient work environment.

  • Process Layout - Creates and/or modifies an optimized manufacturing process by incorporating knowledge of equipment, human interfaces, sequences of production steps, and facilities requirements in order to reduce process time and waste.

  • Industrial Engineering Knowledge - Integrates the pillars of industrial engineering techniques by applying a comprehensive and quantitative analysis to available data to be used as decision factors for the development or improvement of manufacturing processes to contribute to the most efficient process.
