Electrical Engineer engaged in the development and improvement of electronic circuit assemblies, including RF circuits, used for control, communication, and monitoring of commercial and residential products and accessories. New Product Development Team member primarily focused on designing new products to bring to market. Activities to include: competitive product analysis, cost benefit analysis (as it relates to circuit design), development of new electronic controls and motor drives.
Essential Functions:
Identify and execute quality designs and development of new products from the circuit and component level, from component identification to schematic capture through product integration and validation
Hands-on bring-up, debugging, and verification of prototypes
Develop validation plans to deliver improvements in test coverage
Engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including printed circuit board layout, firmware development, mechanical engineering, compliance engineering, test, verification and validation, and manufacturing
Perform failure mode analysis to drive product improvements
Demonstrated understanding of Six Sigma DMAIC methodology.
Collaborate on sustaining product engineering to facilitate improvements in system and component specification to support future development activities.
Education:
BS/MS in Electrical Engineering
Experience/Skills Required:
4-7 years of experience in a product development or product sustaining environment
Must have great EE and general engineering fundamentals as well as demonstrated problem solving ability
Circuit design skills at the PCB assembly level are required
Familiarity with PCB design, assembly and surface mount processes is required
Strong understanding of electronic components is required. Specific background in component engineering is a plus
Experience with microcontrollers, DC/DC power conversion, motor drives, and RF circuitry is desirable
Background in failure analysis and root cause analysis is a major advantage
Must have hands-on background in prototype bring-up and functional verification
Experience with design for compliance (UL or regulatory) or compliance testing is required, experience with safety-critical systems is preferred.
