We need an Engineering Manager! Our Engineering Manager will be responsible for all associated inside plant activities including the staff responsible for the reception and distribution of off-air, satellite, microwave, and digital transport programming up to the outside plant utilizing coaxial cable, microwave, and fiber optic transmission technologies. This includes the installation, construction, operation, and repair of all equipment associated with the HE, Hubs, and Optical Transport Network (OTN). Responsibilities Include:
Supervises the day-to-day operation of the engineering department including, but not limited to supervision and scheduling of engineering personnel, maintenance of studio and transmitting equipment, and other duties as assigned
Direct and coordinate activities related to the planning, installation, maintenance, and modification of all technical systems and equipment
React quickly and appropriately to any issues with equipment
Develops capital and expense budgets to support the technical goals of the station
Works with other department heads and the General Manager to develop and implement the station technical plan and capital project expenses
Ensure all cabling, equipment installation, power and cooling complies
Ensure field compliance with corporate standards, as well as Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations
Participate in the budgeting processes.
Ensure ongoing training for technical personnel
Establish positive employee relations through effective communication and ongoing support
Handle and resolve difficult issues
Set goals and participate in the review of performance of staff
Ensure all required logs, records and other documentation are following company and FCC technical requirements
Manage on-call rotation as necessary
You will need to have:
Minimum of 8 years of broadband maintenance engineering experience
4+ years of experience in broadcast operations and headend operations
Individual has gained pertinent vendor certifications to bolster his or her effectiveness, such as: HVAC (Liebert, Trane, etc.), UPS / Inverter Vendor Certifications (Liebert, Alpha, etc.), Transport Vendor Certifications and Training (Aurora, Cisco, ARRIS, etc.)
Must be able to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires and to make cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting.
Should be able to read general system layouts from blueprints and system maps.
Experienced in Docsis 3.1 deployment
In-depth proficiency of designing, installing and maintaining critical facility systems and service delivery equipment for all products.
Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including ladders and fully loaded tool belts.
Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code.
In-depth understanding of and demonstrated ability to teach advanced video networking, IP networking and DOCSIS.
Duties are performed mostly indoors in an office environment.
Exposure to atmospheric conditions will be encountered; significant outdoor work in all weather conditions is to be expected.
Requires sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time
Ability to lift and carry 65-70 lbs. for short distances
Work regular 40-hour work week. Some nights, weekends and holidays may be required.
Even Better If You Have:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
Minimum eight (8) years Headend Engineer, cable technician or Telecom work experience
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
