Our Laurinburg/Maxton, NC plant is recruiting for a highly challenging and rewarding position of Controls Engineer to take our operations to the next level! We are looking for someone who currently resides or is willing to relocate to the Laurinburg/Maxton, NC area. We are willing to offer a sign bonus up to $8,000. This role is a key member of the Engineering team. Establish practices, processes, and solutions with special equipment for production to achieve safety, quality and productivity targets. Support day to day plant issues, gather information for requirements, develop technical proposals, design and develop solutions for complex equipment controls and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) projects.
Job Responsibilities
Works with and assists plant maintenance to solve issues, transfer knowledge and know-how
Establishes program objectives by analyzing proposals, determine requirements, time frame, funding, savings, and staffing; approving program schedules
Electrical & Controls design capabilities (conceptualization of control systems, development of schematics, component specification, costing, panel building and wiring)
Provides electrical designs and programming within applicable standards to build new or modify existing production machines and systems.
Generates manuals, design documents, PM schedules and spare parts lists for all Error Proofing/Poka-Yoke solutions for Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Personnel
Changes to control logic and software including, but not limited to: Safety Systems, PLCs, HMIs, MES Systems, and PC based logic.
Abides and practices corporate and OSHA standards for electrical systems standardization
Assist with defining MES solution architectures and develops detailed design specifications
Provide expert knowledge and experience regarding equipment programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to guide, and sometimes accomplish, technical effort required to implement complex MES solutions
Serves as plant controls support for industrialization projects within facility and required to be a liaison with industrialization controls team
Provides continuous improvement ideas for existing equipment and processes
Travel requirements are minimal, possible travel to other plants if needed
BS in Electrical Engineering is required
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing production environment required to include product launches, Error Proofing/Poka-Yoke implementation proficiency and MES launch experience
Hands-on manufacturing involvement in the launch of a new product and/or cost improvement project implementation experience is required
Competent in reading electrical schematics
Familiar with Vision Systems to incorporate into Error Proofing/Poka-Yoke solutions
Familiar with Torque Controllers/Tools
Strong MS Office, CAD experience a must
Strong knowledge of the Control/Compact/Micro Logix, SLC and Factory Talk software, programming with Allen Bradley PLCs, and HMIs preferred
Must possess strong ability of troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems (motors, drives, PLC’s)
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills are required
Ability to work in cross-functional environment, gaining consensus and cooperation along with multiple projects and deadlines
