At the Johns Manville Scottsboro, AL facility, we manufacture reinforced TPO roof membrane and a selected number of TPO accessories. The plant takes all components necessary to build a TPO roof and assembles them into a system to ship directly to a distributor or building site. Position Overview:


The Training Coordinator trains, directs, schedules, coordinates training activities, and provides resources to Plant personnel. Works with all production departments and from general verbal and written instructions according to established operating procedures.



This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values of People, Passion, Perform and Protect and delivering the JM Experience. This position is also responsible for meeting facility targets for safety, productivity, and machine uptime.



Responsibilities:



  • Follow all Johns Manville safety and environmental procedures and policies.

  • Attend plant safety and training meetings as scheduled.

  • Follow Job Safety Analysis (JSA's), uses safe work practices, and reports hazardous conditions at all times. Wear protective clothing & equipment as required.

  • Keeps equipment and work areas clean and orderly at all times by following the principles of 5S.

  • Documents, tracks, and maintains all production training records for the Plant.

  • Coordinates all Plant onboarding for Production

  • Assists with planning and establishing training requirements, utilizing knowledge of departmental skills, abilities, and group participation techniques.

  • Tracks and ensures completion of training to meet all job classification, annual, and safety requirements.

  • Coordinates all training activities and establishes training experts for on-the-job training activities.

  • Develops training materials and cost estimates as needed.

  • Leads meetings and communicates with employees from all departments in a professional manner to achieve goals.

  • May participate in the selection and hiring of new employees. Trains, assesses, and instructs new or less-experienced employees.

  • Reviews job sites for training development; prepares training material, tests, and exercises to document job qualifications. Ensures changes to equipment and procedures are updated in training materials.

  • Observes equipment while in operation, diagnosing training needs for operations, and makes changes as necessary to training procedures and processes to keep the equipment in operation.

  • Writes detailed descriptions that will be used for training purposes on all Plant equipment.

  • Works with all department managers for completion of training requirements. Makes recommendations regarding disqualification of employees who do not meet the minimum requirements for their job classification. Writes training action plans for all departments to enable employees to reestablish their certification.

  • Completes other clerical duties necessary to maintain proper records relative to the work performed. Performs other related duties as directed.

  • Oversees, directs, and coordinates the activities of an assigned group of Plant employees. Review completed work to ensure it is done in a safe, efficient manner with a high level of quality.


Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years' experience in public speaking, training, or educating others.

  • Solid leadership skills to direct personnel, implement initiatives, and perform follow-up on specific activities.

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and training skills.

  • Solid analytical ability to determine and develop solutions to moderately complex problems.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. May provide feedback for performance evaluations.

  • Minimal travel required (0 -- 10 days per year).


Physical Requirements:

  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, bending, reaching, etc.



  • Ability to work overtime as required, including shifts of 12 hours.

  • May be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to and including 50 pounds
