Engineering & Facilities Manager Responsible for all Engineering & Facility activities within the plant.

Provides management, engineering and technical leadership to the Louisville facility, staff members and their respective departments including all areas of facility maintenance. Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:
Capital projects from conception to closure.
Project scope identification and development.
Construction / contractor management
Technical leadership and support to the facility & maintenance organization.
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager as a member of the senior leadership team.
Responsibilities, Challenges, and Opportunities:
Accountable for Project/Construction Management (internal and external), IT coordination, facilities/utilities engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, capital planning, and systems engineering.
This position works closely with Corporate Engineering, contracted engineering services, operations, research and innovation, food safety/quality, safety, and other Engineering/Facilities Managers and Maintenance Managers.
This position must work with local/state/federal agencies, risk management and other agencies to ensure the facility meets regulations.
Manage appropriate plant capital budget/spend and maintain 5 year forecast.
Serves as a member of Plant Management Leadership Team setting direction and policy for the entire operation. Communicates direction to primary and secondary report personnel. Hold department accountable for adherence to plant direction and policy. Can serve as alternate functional manager for the plant operation as needed.
Leads and directs the long-term vision of plant operations productivity. Implements continuous technical improvement of the facility, equipment, and production/IT systems in support of plant business goals.
Prepares, justifies, and manages accurate Engineering/Facilities expense/capital budgets with appropriate accounting information.
Ensures capital project scope alignment, leveraging engineering established workflow, start-up success criteria to ensure overall plant capital spend, and overall execution deliverables. Ensure capital project scope alignment with all stakeholders.
Ensure adequate level of technical expertise for execution of capital projects and maintenance operations
Leads sustainability technical programs and project execution
Ensure adequate contractor/consultant personnel levels to achieve the highest value facility maintenance and local capital programs possible.
Work effectively with Corporate Engineering, dotted line relationship with Engineering Director to deploy corporate technical business strategies and direction in concert with plant strategies and direction to achieve Ferrara company business goals.
Directs, coordinates, communicates, and interprets policy for assigned project managers to ensure that capital programs/projects are thoroughly planned, scheduled, scoped, estimated, and are properly staffed, communicated and implemented. Facilitates the proper project hand-off to plant operations and maintenance teams.
Supports and drives efficiencies in improving plant operations and sustainability in continuous improvement
Accountable for compliance with all regulations. Food safety: plant in proper sanitary condition at all times including allergen control, pest control, guidelines followed. Compliance with food safety/quality policies and procedures and HACCP initiatives. Compliance with employee safety policies and procedures.
Responsible for talent management process for Engineering/Facilities employees. Ensures Diversity and Inclusion meets/exceeds corporate standards. Follows staffing process along with interviewing and selecting best candidate for openings. Ensures technical needs are appropriately staffed. Manages development and use of necessary/correct performance measures. Ensure employees are properly trained to execute their duties.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of the organization's strengths, weaknesses, and resources, identifying potential organizational problems and opportunities.
Make strategic decisions, considering immediate and long-term implications, benefits and costs, and risks associated with decision alternatives.
Communicate the strategic vision to employees and obtain their input and commitment, motivating them to work toward common plans and objectives.
Education and Experience:
Requires Bachelor of Science Degree in an engineering/technical or other related field and ten years of relevant experience.
The incumbent will have a comprehensive managerial and technical background attained through education/training, broad exposure to several technical disciplines, and management experience in a technical capacity.
Project management skills, budgeting experience, and excellent communications skills are required for success.
This position requires approximately 10% travel and will require work beyond the normal hours and shift.
