KBX Rail is seekinga Rail Operations Specialist. This position will report to the Manager, Rail Logistics and has primary accountability for successful execution of the customer's sales and operating plan, monitoring rail shipments, and resolving service-related issues. Thisis considered an integral role focused specifically on customer service, rail operations, fleet management, audit, benchmarking, and reporting. By demonstrating customer focus, time management skills, a sense of urgency and the ability to communicate effectively; a successful candidate will create long-term value for the organization by advancing our vision to grow rail shipments as an efficient and cost-effective mode of transportation.

What You Will Do In Your Role


  • Identifying systemic opportunities / problems and initiating innovative solutions in support of our vision

  • Interacting with the Customer Service and the Shipping and Receiving locations to understand production forecast and own the supporting rail transportation required to meet customer planned needs

  • Monitoring transit times and working with railroads to expedite movement of equipment

  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting of rail accessorial charges with an objective to eliminate wherever possible

  • Focusing on fleet optimization and driving economic value

  • Interfacing with asset and commercial colleagues to support customers demand and grow rail market share

  • Auditing vendor invoices for freight, maintenance, storage, detention, railcar lease costs

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:


  • High School diploma or GED

  • Experience working in a professional office environment

  • Ability to analyze large sets of data to develop and support transportation processes and growth

  • Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to work outside normal office hours as needed for business support

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead


  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain

  • Experience with and working knowledge of: Rail industry; Class I and shortline railroads

  • Fleet Optimization experience

  • Experience with commodity logistics or operations via rail, truck, barge, or vessel

  • Experience with freight billing, tracking, and dispute resolution

  • Experience in a logistics customer service role

  • Experience in managing demurrage and accessorial service events

  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau
