Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:


  • Plans, organizes, and directs the day to day operations of the nursing staff in a given unit including staff supervision and communications with physicians and internal administrators to provide optimal patient care.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Works with all new surgical practices to create an environment for growth of service.

  • Work with the director to control cost and spend. Work closely with Materials Management on reduction of supply costs.

  • Continually work to decrease inventory and to reduce expired supplies.

  • Champion recycling and reprocessing ventures. Continue education on the Pledge, and holding staff accountable to the Pledge.

  • Holds staff accountable for creating a welcoming, quiet, family centered environment.

  • Oversight for TJC operational issues and education with Director.

  • Champion and super user-Cerner.

  • Liaison for the new product group with Director.

  • Serve as a liaison to the UPC Assists director is creating a culture of accountability and service to the staff and physician customers by empowering nursing staff to lead.

  • Increase physician satisfaction by improving scheduling, supply issues, and operational issues.

  • Works closely with physician practices and central scheduling to eliminate incorrect information and improve availability of required documentation.

  • Complete Performance evaluations and guide yearly goal setting for the clinical staff and support staff.

  • Interview new candidates for open positions.

  • Leads by example, upholding TJC standards as well as appropriate specialty standards or recommended practices.

  • Organizes along with UNE and Director in servicing of new equipment, processes and ongoing training of current equipment.

  • Patient chart expert-ability to assure all that is necessary be available for the efficient processing of patients.

  • Works with all new and current physician practices to ensure a smooth transition for patients into the periop environment.

  • Continue education on the Pledge, and holding staff accountable.

  • Holds staff accountable for creating a welcoming, quiet, family centered environment.

  • Provides service recovery when needed.

  • Assist's director is creating a culture of accountability and service to the staff and physician customers empowering staff to make appropriate changes and use critical thinking skills to provide a service oriented environment.

  • Continue education on Magnet, shared governance and the Plan and holding staff accountable.

  • Creating a culture of ownership and pride. Increase physician satisfaction by improving scheduling, operational issues, and improving patient throughput.

  • Participate and contribute on hospital committees that require expertise and clinical leadership, for example: Quality Safety Committee, Core measures, Education Council, Service Team, and SMAT-Material management.

  • Serve as a liaison to the UPC. Assist's director is creating a culture of accountability and service to the staff and physician customers.

  • Volunteer time to hospital sponsored functions such as Go Red event, Rotary Club functions, and Health Fair Pain Center table, held here at the hospital.

  • Manages OT to stay as close to budget as possible.

  • Assures ordering clinical supplies, medications, and office supplies.

  • Reconcile all patient charges posted in Web Report Viewer.

  • Responsible for decision of capital improvements.

  • Responsible for scheduling all equipment repairs and PM.

  • Work with the director to control cost and spend.

  • Works with all new and current physicians to create an environment for growth of service.

  • Works with director to appropriately develop cost effective capital budget requests.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a bachelor's degree.

  • At least 3 years of nursing experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications.

  • Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license or temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.

  • BLS certification required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
