Position Summary
The Senior CNC programmer is responsible for ensuring quality, efficient programming, and setup of a 6-machine work group. The senior CNC programmer will work with a small team to ensure that programs maximize machine uptime and reduce non-conformances. This position will be responsible for both designing setups and programs for new jobs and optimizing existing jobs.
Essential Functions
Utilize Mastercam to create machine programs
Create setup sheets for repeat jobs to ensure a standard process
Design and create fixtures as required for jobs, and train operators in their use
Work with CNC operators to expand their understanding of machining process
Utilize knowledge of machining process to adjust feeds and speeds to reduce process time
Work with the CNC operators to meet expectations for productivity, OTD, and quality goals
Keep process moving, and alert management when production is inhibited
Drive process improvement on the floor through continuous improvement of manufacturing process
Work with fabrication manager to determine run time and tooling costs for new jobs
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience with programing and setting up CNC mills
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints
Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, and have strong team building and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
10 or more years of related CNC machining experience
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited institution
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office, and experience utilizing an MRP system.
Experience implementing lean manufacturing
Working Conditions
This position works in a manufacturing environment
Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime, and weekends as needed.
Lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. occasionally
Bend, twist, climb, squat, kneel throughout shift able to work in hot or cold conditions
Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment
Use hands for simple and power grasping as well as push/pull and fine manipulation
Work at and/or below shoulder level
