The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

In the role, you will contribute to the development of new ceramic materials used in demanding industries such as aerospace and electronics.     

As a Laboratory Technician – Ceramic Fibers, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Collaborating with engineers to assist in research and development of new products and processes within the ceramic fibers lab


• Ensuring safety and productivity through preparation and maintenance of equipment


• Thoroughly documenting and reporting test methods and results in both excel and written format

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• High school diploma/ GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• One (1) year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, and/or pilot plants in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Four years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, and/or pilot plants


• Experience performing analytical and/or physical testing


• Experience with the operation and maintenance of process equipment


• Experience assisting with new product development


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic travel

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.
