End Time :  5:00 pm 

Schedule Days : Monday - Friday 

Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs week) 




Job Summary:



Develops and implements formal training programs to support Empire sales department with a value added option for all machine groups. Provides quality training programs that meet standards congruent with Empire Regional Training Center standards. Maintains positive communications with Empire clients and Empire employees.





Essential Functions:




  1. Design and deliver instructional programs to enhance employee productivity, safety and increase profitability.

  2. Design and deliver specialized training curriculum to meet both internal and external client needs.

  3. Deliver class lectures following assigned lesson plans to meet and or exceed course performance objectives.   Courses to be delivered with a strict adherence to safety for the participants and equipment at all times.

  4. Develops custom courses to meet clients’ training needs in various fields and industries. Ensure all documentation for each course is submitted within established requirements.

  5. Lecture classes with attention to safety, maintenance, and operation of machinery and equipment, following outline, handouts and texts.

  6. Administer written and practical exams and submit evaluation reports on the trainees' performance. 

  7. Develop classes for clients at a reasonable cost as a value added option provided by Empire.

  8. Assist in maintaining relationships with key company individuals and client contacts.

  9. Work safely at all times.  Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.




Additional Responsibilities:




  1. Create and maintain a positive working relationship with Empire personnel consistent with Empire values and the corporate mission statement.

  2. Maintain training facility, library, training aids, tools and equipment.

  3. Responsible for all materials used to prepare and deliver training classes.

  4. Maintain class progress records for students attending training.

  5. Assist in controlling training cost and expenses.

  6. Assist in training, directing and mentoring instructors as well as students.

  7. Assist in maintaining eTRAIN content library.

  8. Perform other duties as assigned, including events and project specific work.

  9. At times may lead and direct the work of others.  Select, train, and schedule additional trainers as required.

  10. Assist with machine delivery when formal training is required.

  11. Address client concerns when identified and refer client to appropriate person when there is a need for support.

  12. Report product and operational problems to a supervisor in the appropriate Empire department.

  13. Report possible sales or service opportunities to a supervisor in the appropriate Empire department.

  14. Assist in coordinating, scheduling, developing, and conducting client training.

  15. Work within and promote corporate values.




Knowledge Skills and Abilities:




  1. Highly skilled and knowledgeable in a specialized area of technical instruction; maintains and develops specialized knowledge. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

  2. Ability to prepare instructional objectives; including conducting needs analyses, making decisions on curriculum and delivery methods, and measure instructional results.

  3. Must have experience in mining, earthmoving, and sand and gravel industries.

  4. Must be familiar with all CAT machine groups and maintain familiarity with new technology as it becomes available to clients.

  5. Must have exceptional computer skills.

  6. Must have planning and organizational skills sufficient to develop, schedule and conduct training classes.

  7. Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to communicate with all levels of employees in an organization, up to general manager.

  8. Must be able to work within mine site specific requirements.

  9. Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.




Education and Experience:




  1. Requires a bachelor's degree and/or at least equivalent technical experience of 5 years minimum.

  2. Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

  3. Must complete formal Train-the-Trainer courses.

  4. Must complete the CAT CET course and become certified on at least 4 machine groups.

  5. Minimum 7 years of experience in the heavy equipment industry.

  6. Minimum 5 years of experience providing training

  7. Current valid driver’s license. 

  8. MSHA certification required.  Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
