Quality Inspector I at EVRAZ

Job Description:

Responsibilities


  • Inspect plate for marking, surface defects, dimensional tolerances, flatness and edge condition.

  • Mark pile cool as described in SOP.

  • Collect and report data in HMI and on roll pages.

  • Assist in training new employees on Quality.

  • Move plates across Hotbed to inspect and transfer to End Shear.

  • Assist in Coil marking, profiling and lift truck operation when on Coil product.

  • Sustain Mill in work area or other areas where needed when required or down times.

  • Promote safety and team work.

Requirements


  • Able to work in an environment subject to fluctuations in heat, humidity, fumes, odors, dust and noise.

  • Ability to read and comprehend ASTM and customer specifications.

  • Ability to type information accurately into HMI.

  • Flexibility and willingness to learn and accept changes in job duties.

  • Able to work independently or in team environment.

  • Requires close observation and concentration skills during inspection of product and operation of equipment.

  • Good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and mechanical aptitude.

  • Good planning and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Good math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, accurate number identification, decimals and percentages.

  • Overtime and shift work required.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. without assistance.

Preferred


  • 2 years’ experience in a heavy manufacturing environment or 1 year Rolling Mill experience.

  • Trained as a Level 1 inspector.
