A Mechanical Engineer job in Merritt Island, FL is currently available through Belcan. Job Description
OT Eligible. Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to
evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications. Confer with
engineers or other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or
provide technical information. Confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating

maintenance or safety procedures, service schedule, or supply of materials required to maintain
machines or equipment in the prescribed condition. Develop or test models of alternate designs or
processing methods to assess feasibility, sustainability, operating condition effects, potential new
applications, or necessity of modification. Design test control apparatus or equipment or develop
procedures for testing products. Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, or maintain mechanical
products, equipment, systems or processes to meet requirements.

Qualifications:
* Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years of experience. Able to remain composed and focused while working in a dynamic environment.
* Ability to rapidly identify and resolve discrepancies/anomalies.
* Ability to provide detail technical recommendations to the operations and maintenance team to resolve discrepancies/anomalies.
* Able to perform detailed data reduction and analysis. Must be willing to travel to support launch and maintenance operations.
* Strong organizational and project management skills.
* Must be able to track, manage and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks
and jobs.
* Experience working in cross discipline teams

Desired Skills
* Hands- on experience operating and troubleshooting mechanical and/or piping systems
* Experience with creating process hazards analyses, job hazards analysis and formal risk evaluation. * Experience writing and executing test plans and procedures for qualification,
acceptance, and operations of hazardous and/or safety critical components and systems.
* Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and infield oversight of construction, testing and/or operations of piping systems.
* Experience with design and operation of typical aerospace fuel,
oxidizer and high pressure pneumatic systems.
* Experience with steady state and transient fluid flow analysis
* Experience with structural hand calculations and structural analysis software tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.)
* Knowledge of precision cleaning processes / levels and passivation of stainless steel
* Knowledge of marine environment corrosion mitigation (material and coatings
selection)

Responsibilities
* Design and modify launch pad piping systems supporting rocket propellants and pneumatics
* Perform fluid and structural analysis of new or modified designs
* Select components and collaborate on system safety and process hazards analysis
* Guide creation of models and drawings of designs
* Perform system and component level analyses (structural, fluid flow, hazards, etc.) and document results
* Draft and review specifications and statements of work for both internal and supplier guidance.
* Coordinate with suppliers on cost, schedule, and technical design requirements
* Oversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified piping/pressure systems
* Perform hazards analysis and guide work using hierarchy of controls for safety
* Author and run commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting and operational procedures
* Collaborate with teams of diverse skill sets to build, operate and maintain a world class launch site.
* Provide input on cost, schedule and technical requirements to internal customers
* Occasional travel may be necessary
