Job Description:

WCPO, the Scripps ABC station in Cincinnati, Ohio is looking for an experienced Anchor/Investigative Reporter/MMJ. We are looking for someone who is a journalist first and foremost with a passion for digging deep and storytelling.

The successful candidate would regularly anchor a variety of newscasts, possibly including nights, mornings and weekends. When not anchoring, the candidate would work directly with the I-Team building strong investigative stories that matter to the community.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


  • Anchor a variety of newscasts from the mid-day to mornings, evenings and weekends.


  • May lead investigations, conduct interviews or be called upon for undercover field work.


  • May be responsible for tip line, emails, and responding to viewers.


  • Shoot still and moving video as needed.


  • Work with newsroom employees and personal sources to develop engaging, accurate and ethical newscast.


  • Gather and write investigative content for multiple platforms, including posting stories on the Internet.


  • Report live on location from various news events.


  • Organize and set up interviews and video shoots.


  • Research and develop news stories.


  • Engage viewers via social media on a daily basis.


  • Take part in station and independent community service events and activities Follow the Scripps Journalism Ethics Guidelines.


  • Periodically required to drive personal or company vehicle to cover various assignments.


  • Perform other duties as needed and assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:


  • Bachelors degree in broadcast, journalism or other related field preferred.


  • At least 2-years of News Anchor experience required.


  • At least 2-years of Investigative Reporting experience required.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING:


  • Strong broadcast and digital writing skills.


  • Ability to deliver the news in a smooth, conversational, approachable, yet authoritative tone.


  • Basic computer skills required.


  • Strong organizational skills.


  • Knowledge of local, regional and national news.


  • Work well under pressure and at a fast pace.


  • Working knowledge of all social media platforms.
