We're looking for a Experienced Solid Waste Engineer with at least 5 years of experience to join our solid waste practice in Illinois (Oak Brook or Chicago locations). Apply your engineering skills to projects involving MSW and CCR landfills, transfer stations, CCR surface impoundments, geologic and hydrogeologic investigations, solid waste planning, and other solid waste management systems while further developing the business skills needed for a successful consulting career.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Civil design, landfill and transfers station design, stormwater design, and site layout;

  • Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, hydrologic and landfill gas modeling, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;

  • Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;

  • Small project/task management and proposal preparation support;

  • Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications; and

  • Fieldwork associated with design and construction services.

Based on your current level of experience, you may be asked to take on task-level or project management responsibilities, along with business development, and staff mentoring tasks.

  • Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety, first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.


  • Fieldwork: Up to 30%


  • Overnight travel: Up to 30%

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE



  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, geologic, or geotechnical engineering. (required)

  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E. P.G.) or the ability to obtain P.E. registration within two years. (preferred)


SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • At least 5 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

  • Demonstrated strong interest in solid waste. (preferred)

  • Strong oral and technical writing skills. (required)

  • Experience with modeling/design tools such as AUTOCAD, contaminant transport modeling, Slope/W, Vadose/W, Sigma/W, FLAC, and ARCGIS. (preferred)

  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
