Team Leader - TCC Machining - 2nd Shift at Schaeffler Group

Job Description:

The Team Leader is responsible for leading employees and working as a team within a group incentive environment to optimize production performance within a CNC Machining, Grinding, Welding, Stamping, Heat Treatment, or Assembly department in Business Unit Transmission Technologies in Schaeffler Group North America at the Wooster, Ohio facility.

This position holds the responsibility for using expertise to increase efficiency and productivity of operators and equipment within a department, and to ensure consistent quality standards are met. The Team Leader will help troubleshoot equipment and assist with changeover, set-ups, and will coordinate daily and monthly preventative maintenance and work schedules. The Team Leader sets an example for quality and good housekeeping practices in the department and will always be available to provide assistance to operators.

The Team Leader will maintain accurate records including maintenance reports, incentive, scrap, SPC charts, as well as time and attendance / vacation scheduling. This individual encourages employee continuous improvement through MOVE activities and using general problem solving tools. The Team Leader will make routine quality audits. The Team Leader must have an assertive disposition, be able to resolve conflict, communicate with others openly, drive production to meet organizational objectives and adhere to and enforce to company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices.

The Team Leader must provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with Schaeffler policies and procedures as well as assist employees in achieving company goals. This position must lead employees by training and coaching employees, as well as providing feedback in regards to employee performance, quality, and safety. The Team Leader will be required to mentor and empower their employees to foster a team environment and have strong conflict management skills, be able to maintain employee work schedules, and have ability to make quick effective decisions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand in stationary position The employee is frequently required to use hands to maneuver objects, tools, or controls and to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds based on component specifications. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

This position is required to know and understand the current specifications of the Quality Policy and procedures, as well as the Safety and Environment Policy and procedures and contribute to the achievement of the company objectives. In addition to the duties listed above , the position holder must carry out tasks assigned by his supervisor that are essentially related to his duties.

Technical : - Advanced production knowledge and experience

- Superior mechanical ability

- Good knowledge of production processes, measurement and inspection, procedures, production planning and control

- Experience in CNC Machining, Grinding, Welding, Stamping, Heat Treatment, or Assembly operations

- SAP & Microsoft Office

Interpersonal : - Strong leadership skills

- Excellent communication ability (written & verbal)

- Extremely self-motivated & driven to achieve results

- Continuous improvement approach

- Assertive approach to solving problems

- Ability to prioritize and make decisions

Educational : - High School Diploma
