Sr Engineering Project Lead - Electrification at Dana Limited

Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets – passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment – Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

 


Engineering Project Management Office (EPMO) within Electrification and Mechatronics group is a new group with a goal of providing centralized direction and enhancing the practices of execution management, organizational governance, and strategic change leadership.  The Engineering project manager within the EPMO group reports directly to the Global Project Management Office.

 

PURPOSE: The Engineering Project Manager will lead the engineering efforts of major projects in mechatronics or Electric Vehicle Integration. The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for delivering the solution and for controlling all the engineering and prototyping aspects of the project, including schedule, quality and costs. This individual will have the ability to work in a dynamic environment with challenging deadlines. The job responsibilities will be very varied as it will touch many aspects of the growing Mechatronics and Electrification group and will include some of the following responsibilities but not limited to-

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Create and Manage program timelines by directing, coordinating, and communicating to all functional groups assigned to the project as well as customer functional groups, supplier, and vehicle line platform teams

  • Ensure projects are launched on-time and meet deliverables

  • Follow ASPICE process requirements, create and maintain require documentations

  • Manage issue and change tracking and coordinate with all stakeholders

  • Coordinate and present project status updates to leadership

  • Coordinate DFMEA, DVP and follow up with SDE/SQA for PPAP approvals

  • Direct the effort to define the project charter, scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

  • Apply multiple engineering project management methods and skills to tailor the execution of projects of varying scopes and implementation plans

  • Creates and manages R&D budgets related to development and estimate product cost ensuring target financial goals are achieved

  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain awareness of project scope and milestones

  • Drive project work to completion, using good judgment in determining when to escalate issues to management

  • Support purchasing with supplier identification, technical discussions, and timeline reviews

  • Identify and resolve issues/risks using established engineering and project management tools and techniques

  • Implement enhancements to project management procedures and processes at Dana through continuous improvement and lean efforts

  • Responsible as lead/support of Advanced Portfolio, RFQ/RFI Planning and execution, department financial planning, etc

  • Develops, implements, and promotes Agile best practices and standards across the enterprise and Agile teams including but not limited to software

  • Drive the organization-wide Agile adoption strategy and rollout plans

 

Basic Qualifications

 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering and 5 year(s) of progressive experience in automotive field

  • Demonstrate experience in technical project management with at least one medium project completion from acquisition to series phase

  • Title of Certified project management professional title or a project management degree, an asset


  • Knowledge of the automotive electrification sector, an asset

  • Accomplished business leader with the ability to work successfully in a matrix environment

  • Experience with Agile and scrum experience will be a definite plus

  • Must have a strong understanding of complicated technical products

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

  • Effective listener and communicator

  • Proficient technical skills Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Excel

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and think forward

  • Able to effectively interface with other disciplines in the organization to achieve result

  • Demonstrated ability to drive results

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree with 7+ year(s) of progressive experience in mechatronics or electrification

Technical project management experience with successful completion of at least two medium to large projects
