Lonza Specialty Ingredients (LSI) is growing in leaps and bounds and we are the premier chemical manufacturer in the Atlanta Metro Area, located just minutes off of I-285. As a Cost Accountant for Lonza, you will support the Wood Protection division, within the Microbial Control Solutions (MCS) business and report directly to the Site Controller. You will provide cost accounting oversite for three manufacturing sites and tolling locations across North America. Additionally, you will be responsible for effectively partnering with site operations and the finance organization. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Performs closing activities for cost accounting responsibilities -  monthly, quarterly, and year-end




• Analyzes and reports Manufacturing Variances (production variances, purchase price variances, etc.)




• Performs inventory valuation and reconciliation, reserve analysis and entries – monthly, quarterly, and year-end




• Assists as needed in coordinating and performing annual physical inventories and cycle counts, including support for analysis and reconciliation of process and inventory adjustments




• Develops accurate product costing and supports “new” product costing (Material Master, BOMs, Recipe, and Rate Routings)




• Interacts with all aspects of plant operations—Maintenance, Engineering, Production, Logistics, and Management




• Assists with annual target process to develop manufacturing unit standards accurately and timely per corporate guidelines




• Provides support for internal and external audit requests

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or another quantitative/technical discipline is required.




• Recent college grad or professional up to 5 years experience




• Preferred experience in a manufacturing/chemical environment, with an emphasis on Cost and Financial Accounting 




• Strong attention to detail, superior analytical capability, and excellent verbal and written communications a must




• Must be proficient in all MS Office programs, with advanced skills in Excel




• Must possess strong prioritization skills; flexibility and ability to multi-task on a daily basis




• Knowledge of SAP or other ERP Systems is preferred
