The Senior Manager, Internal Audit - PMO, sits within Illumina’s Internal Audit function, reporting to the Vice President, Internal Audit and ERM. The individual in this role will be responsible for maintaining Internal Audit’s digitalization tools, driving the strategy for continuous improvements in automation and own the quality assurance infrastructure for the team. The successful candidate will represent Internal Audit during key business transformation, system implementation initiatives, provide independent risk/control insights, and raise awareness of project-related risks to the business.
Responsibilities:
Manage audit systems/tools used for Operational Audit and SOX Compliance
Develop and implement a data analytics and RPA strategy for the Internal Audit function
Recommend and drive innovative audit approaches and process improvements (e.g. agile audit methodology)
Manage the internal quality assurance improvement process to ensure adherence to IIA International Professional Practices Framework and departmental standards
Partner with business and IT stakeholders on enterprise-wide projects to highlight and evaluate risks, and understand impacts on cross-functional business and IT internal controls
Perform system implementation impact assessments as they relate to key financial processes
Assist with IT components of Operational Audits and SOX testing
Develop risk and control training decks and assist with delivery of training across the organization
Maintain the Internal Audit infrastructure including the library of processes and playbooks
Lead or support other initiatives within the scope of the Internal Audit function, as assigned
Requirements:
Strong financial, operational and technology-related internal controls background and solid understanding of risk management
10+ years previous audit experience with at least 3 years in project leadership roles at a large, public multinational company and/or a Big 4 public accounting firm
Strong experience with business and IT project management principles
Ability to build effective cross-functional relationships at all levels
Independently applies expertise to set direction and resolve problems
Proven track record of driving projects and process improvement initiatives to successful conclusion
Experience in auditing and/or designing, monitoring, and evaluating enterprise technology systems, IT-related internal controls and applying COBIT framework to assess IT risks
Ability to understand and articulate broad business implications
Strong project management skills with an ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
Ability to work productively in a team environment as well as independently
Flexibility and ability to adapt to a fast-paced culture, changes in the environment and shifts in priorities
Experience in auditing system development lifecycle processes (e.g. waterfall and agile)
Strong influencing skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across the organization
Superior analytical and critical thinking skills
Highest standards of ethics and integrity
Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written
Experience in the use of data analytics and process flowcharting
Experience with SAP or other large ERP systems preferred
Experience working in biotech, technology, or pharmaceutical industry preferred
Education:
BA/BS in Accounting, Business, Finance, Information Technology, or related fields, required
CPA, CISA, or CIA required
