Job Description Summary:
The OT Network Solutions Engineer will design and develop the OT network infrastructure for renewable energy plants monitor and control (SCADA) systems.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Design and implement end-to-end network solutions for SOLV Energy's solar energy projects, ensuring seamless communication and data transfer between various project stakeholders, owner systems and utilities.

  • Collaborate with the SCADA Design Team, Project Managers and SCADA Engineers, as the Network Engineering subject management expert (SME) in the scoping, design, and development of OT / SCADA Networks for utility scale renewable energy projects (e.g., Photovoltaic, Battery Energy Storage Systems, and Wind).

  • Evaluate network infrastructure needs, considering factors such as site layout, environmental conditions, scalability, and security requirements.

  • Define and implement system design standards and best practices that align with applicable industry standards and company objectives.

  • Plans, coordinates, and executes complex network infrastructure designs, changes, and upgrades.

  • Work with Network Engineers to analyze network performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement necessary adjustments to optimize network efficiency and throughput.

  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and field technicians for troubleshooting and commissioning support.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, technical specifications, and fiber infrastructure.

  • Assist with scoping, development, and management of OT Infrastructure projects.

  • Promote and adhere to a culture of NERC compliance and governance regarding network configuration and commissioning standards, documentation, reporting, knowledge transfer and training.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to network engineers and other team members, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.


  • Maintain networking technical expertise to support OT Infrastructure and NERC Compliance program needs.

  • Complete other assignments as assigned.


Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related engineering field - Preferred but not required.

  • Minimum 7+ years of verifiable work experience in the Information Technology field as a field network engineer.

  • Experience working in Renewable Energy Industry working with industrial control system networking and common communication protocols (OPC, DNP3, Modbus, etc) preferred.

  • At least one Certification in Cisco, Palo-Alto, CompTIA Network+ or other networking technologies.

  • Experience working with various equipment including but not limited to; Cisco switches, Palo Alto firewalls, Dell PowerEdge Servers, Cradlepoint cellular modems, SFP modules, others.

  • Maintain, configure and utilize new and existing monitoring tools such as, SolarWinds.

  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of WAN, LAN and VPN networks, including the relationship between network infrastructure and IP enabled devices.

  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of TCP/IP switching and routing.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Ethernet cabling, single mode, and multimode fiber optic design standards and applications.

  • Proficient knowledge of Authentication and Access Control.

  • Proficient in the configuration and standup of VPN tunnels, VPN administration, and connectivity support.

  • Basic knowledge of virtual and physical server architecture and networking.

  • Strong knowledge of OT / SCADA systems and their interaction within an OT infrastructure environment. Such as Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server, and SCADA Platforms and historization highly desired.

  • Knowledge of the OSI model and applying it to systematic troubleshooting and problem resolution.

$111,883.20 - 149,177.60
