Leidos is seeking a Junior C#/OCR Software Developer for Baltimore location.

The Junior C#/OCR Software Developer is an accomplished technical leader, proactive customer-focused advocate, a team player with substantial software engineering experience. The candidate will provide hands-on experience with enterprise software development, integration, implementation, test automation, and SOA/Microservice architecture to a cross-functional software development team. The ideal candidate will have a good foundation with .Net, C#, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), document image processing, document conversion, SOA/Microservice architecture, REST, and SQL/Data Modelling. Front-end development experience is a plus, such as Angular, Typescript, Web Content Accessibility, and UX.

The candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn new innovative technologies, research & author expert recommendations in whitepapers, and overcome technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will play a key role in enhancing modern applications or modernizing legacy applications leveraging cloud computing, DevOps, or Machine Learning technologies.

Key Required Skills: .Net/C#, OCR, Agile development, relational databases (PostgreSQL, DB2, or Oracle), and SOA/Microservice architecture

Required Skills:

  • Good knowledge of C#, .Net Framework, .Net Core, Web API and concurrent programming.
  • Basic knowledge of OCR libraries (Nuance/Kofax, ABBYY FineReader)
  • Basic knowledge of document conversion libraries (iText, PDFNet, LeadTools)
  • Basic knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, DB2, Oracle), SQL, and ORM technologies (ODBC / .Net Entity Framework, NHibernate, Dapper)
  • Basic experience with automated unit testing, TDD, BDD, and associated technologies (NUnit, xUnit, Moq, SpecFlow, TestServer)
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, ASP, CSS)
Desired Skills:

  • An in-depth knowledge of Social Security Administration (SSA) modern development environment
  • Preferred experience with API development & monitor tools (Ready API, Swagger, Splunk, Dynatrace)
  • Preferred experience with delivery (CI/CD) best practices and DevOps to production
  • Preferred experience with PaaS using Red Hat OpenShift / Kubernetes, and Docker containers
  • Preferred experience with AWS cloud technologies or other cloud platforms
  • Preferred experience with building responsive UIs with modern front end technologies (Angular, React, Node, Typescript, Bootstrap)

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, code, and implement next-generation applications using software engineering best practices in the latest technologies:
    • API development (REST, JSON, Microservice architecture)
    • OCR using Machine Learning (Tesseract, Textract)
    • DevOps (Jenkins, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker, SonarQube, UrbanCode)
  • Provide software expertise in one or more of these areas: .Net application integration, .Net enterprise services, service oriented architectures (SOA), security, business process management/business rules processing, user experience (UX) and accessibility (Section 508/WCAG/USDS Web Standards)
  • Investigate and repair application defects regardless of component: front-end, business logic, middleware, or database (PL/SQL and Data Modeling).
  • Brief management, customer, team, or vendors using written or oral skills at appropriate technical level for audience
  • All other duties as assigned or directed


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
    • Master's or Doctorate's degree may substitute for required experience
    • 2+ years of experience with full lifecycle development
    • 2+ years of experience with .Net C# systems/application analysis & design
    • 1+ years of combined experience SOA/Microservice architecture/RESTful web service
    • 1+ years of experience with OCR libraries (Nuance/Kofax, ABBYY FineReader)
  • Experience in an Agile development team, preferably Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
