Lead efforts to develop, implement, validate and continuously improve the Corporate Food Quality Assurance Systems at Ferrara Candy Company.
Major Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Assist the VP, RD&Q in developing short and long term food quality strategies, initiatives and action plans aligned with the Corporate Ferrara strategy.
Develop and manage a team of professionals and associated budget to assure successful execution of short and long-term strategies. This includes both direct reports and matrixed reports (i.e. plant QA Managers).
Assure that Corporate Food Quality Systems are state of the art through benchmarking.
Support implementation and successful execution of Corporate Food Quality Systems at Ferrara manufacturing facilities by providing training, resources, assessments and metrics.
Establish and enhance effective communication mechanisms to build trust with key business partners such as manufacturing plants, R&D, customers, trade organizations and government agencies.
Ensures adherence to all company policies and procedures to deliver the Ferrara Quality Promise .
Understands and demonstrates the Company's core values.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies/Skills/Knowledge Required
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Proven ability to build and deliver high performing quality systems
Practical knowledge and experience with variation reduction methods such as Statistical Process Control
Track record of developing technical professionals
Strong network within the QA profession as evidenced by working on Trade Organization technical committees
Experience with GFSI (SQF, BRC or ISO )
Experience with manufacturing preferred
Experience leading and growing teams and enabling results through others
Knowledge of food safety principles required (HACCP certification, FSVP etc.)
Knowledge of quality systems, audits, regulatory, sanitation systems, statistics, analytical and microbiological lab methods desired
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology or similar scientific discipline
MS or MBA preferred
Minimum 12 years' experience in the food or pharmaceutical industry
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
