Job Title:Education Program SpecialistDepartment:FAES | Animal Sciences

The Education Program Specialist will play a key role in managing studies aimed at advancing education and extension initiatives related to swine health and workforce development for swine production. Essential duties include planning, organizing and executing education and extension events, developing educational materials, assisting in data collection and analysis, and coordinating stakeholder involvement in project planning and implementation. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to writing project manuscripts, supervising undergraduate students, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure project success. This position is jointly supported by the Department of Animal Sciences/College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences, and by the Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine/College of Veterinary Medicine. Therefore, the person selected for this position will work closely with two supervisors: Dr. Talita Resende and Dr. Andreia Arruda. While remote work is the primary mode of operation for this position, this staff member may occasionally be required to work in-person at Columbus and/or Wooster OSU campus, as well as participate in education/outreach events. Examples of such events are farm visits, workshops, and training sections.
Requirements:


- Program management experience, preferably in a research or agricultural setting, including organizing project supplies and budget management.


- Prior experience working in a research setting, with a focus Animals Sciences or related areas.


- Strong background in outreach, extension, and education programs, with a keen understanding of the agricultural industry.


- Demonstrated leadership skills.


- Valid driver's license is required.


- Competence in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, is required.


- Bachelor's degree required, degree focus in agriculture preferred.



Working Conditions This position entails fieldwork at extension events, including direct contact with livestock (pigs). Candidates should be comfortable working in farm environment and handling animals as necessary and be flexible to work on weekends / off hours if necessary.

The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
