Job Description Summary: We're looking for a Staff Accountant to join our team! In this role, you will play an integral part in supporting the accounting department. We are looking for an accountable, critical thinking, and goal-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Job Description:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Resolve discrepancies in area of responsibility by interfacing with other departments, vendors or agencies
Maintain accounting records and other files for area of responsibility
Participate in monthly closeout activities, including preparation of journal entries and analysis and review of financial activity
Establish and maintain records of transactions where follow-up action is required and recommend actions for closing
Prepare reports and account analysis
Responsible for monthly and quarterly reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts
Assist with quarterly reporting, year-end audit and business planning
Make practical applications found in accounting standards and procedures for routine transactions
Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and accounting systems, or financial applications as they arise.
Assist in patch/upgrade testing in accounting systems and financial applications
Recommend and assist in development of methods to improve procedures and systems
Code vendor invoices for various Corporate departments
Assist in special projects and provide back-up for other accounting functions as assigned
Complete other responsibilities as assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Four-year business/accounting degree required
Construction industry experience a plus
Minimum three years of accounting experience, proficiency in General Ledger reconciliation a plus
Solid understanding of accounting procedures and principles
Experience with on-line integrated accounting systems
Proficient in use of computer spreadsheet software and related applications, (Excel VLookups and Pivot Tables)
Ability to organize work efficiently and handle multiple projects
Strong analytical skills
Excellent interpersonal skills including strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and timeliness
Ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize tasks
Ability to identify issues, take initiative and resolve problems
