GeneDx is seeking a Scientist I, R&D

GeneDx is a rapidly growing CAP and CLIA certified diagnostic genetic testing laboratory for molecular genetics. Our historic mission has been to make clinical diagnostic testing available for people with genetic conditions and their families. We apply cutting edge technologies that provide a wide array of molecular genetic diagnostic tests, including whole exome sequencing and next-generation sequencing panels. Minimum requirements:

PhD or Master’s Degree with 2-3 years of experience in biology, biochemistry, and pharmaceutical-science related fields AND
experience with nucleic acid analysis and wet lab experience with molecular biology


    Additional skills needed/responsibilities:

    • Experience or knowledge of working in an environment under regulatory compliance.

    • Experience with PCR, multiplex PCR, Real-time PCR, digital PCR, DNA and RNA isolation, molecular probe techniques; primer design and PCR optimization.

    • Independently execute assay and reagent troubleshooting, optimization and validation of experiments.

    • Participate in general lab maintenance initiatives, including lab safety and compliance, laboratory supplies and equipment, and physical and electronic inventory.

    • Develop, update, and implement SOPs and appropriate documentation to support testing procedures including data capture, forms, logbooks, and inventory batch records.

    • Effectively plan and ensure project deliverables and timelines are met.

    • Contribute to mentoring and training team members.

    • May work with Bio-safety Level 2 materials such as viruses and bacteria and human clinical matrices (e.g. serum and plasma).

    • May supervise the work of others in all aforementioned areas of productivity and effectiveness.

    • Ability to multitask and switch projects as priorities change in the lab.



    Desired skills: (nice to have, not required)


    • Industry experience relevant to molecular testing and diagnostics;

    • NGS sequencing experience with/without bioinformatics knowledge and skills is appreciated;
