POSITION OVERVIEW
The Technical Support Engineer 1 will be responsible for applying basic Linux knowledge and analytical skills remotely on a real-time basis to resolve customer reported application issues related to our world-class imaging software.


This role will receive incoming customer reported issues by phone, email and web portal. Your technical trouble shooting and problem isolation/replication skills along with your attention to detail are imperative. You will apply your education, experience, Vital Images product-specific training and use of our internal knowledgebases to ensure timely resolutions are provided to our customers.



RESPONSIBILITIES
• In a team environment, trouble-shoot complex technology problems with emphasis on Linux Directory Permissions, use of the file editor to accomplish tasks or obtain information, identifying issues using logs, understanding of TLS/Digital Certificates and Linux Cyber security to research causes and recommend resolutions
• Review Network settings with Linux, Network and sharing center, device manager and recommend changes per documentation.
• Utilize basic VMWare concepts. Recognize configuration or, misconfiguration from the Guest OS side per the guide.
• Troubleshoot basic configurations, recognize patterns in log files to find errors. Read through existing scripts and follow the flow to determine if the script is working as expected.
• Perform basic Kibana operations to extract data. Use principles of storage i.e., NAS, SAN, LUNs, Local network based etc. to check storage using the Linux OS tools. Use Linux partitioning to identify issues being seen in VC as storage related. Pull up MWL and confirm it is working.
• Following our “industry best practices” you will escalate to Levels 2 or 3 accordingly

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND SKILLS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field.
• Basic understanding of network infrastructure and the movement of data through it
• General understanding of network diagnostic tools and monitoring tools to identify customer network issues unrelated to our Imaging Solution products
• Able to perform basic configurations, XML and Groovy scripting
• Basic knowledge and/or experience with Linux, storage, networking
• Self-motivated and driven to learn new technical concepts
• Time management and ability to multi-task
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate to customers both over the phone and in person with courtesy and urgency
• Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills



PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Experience with supporting software systems and the integration of such systems into existing networks preferred
• Cassandra and non-SQL basic knowledge
• Some knowledge of medical imaging e.g., CT Scans, MRI’s X-Rays etc. preferred
• Experience and/or knowledge of case management (Salesforce, Jira) and knowledge base tools (Confluence, SharePoint) preferred
