Job Description:

We are looking
for a talented Sensing Systems Advanced Development - Technical Specialist to
join our team specializing in Sensor Engineering for our Cummins Electronics
and Fuel Systems business segment in Columbus, IN.


In this role,
you will make an impact in the following ways:

Develop and validate electronic sensors,
actuators, control units or harnesses to ensure the consistent operation in a
variety of customer applications.
Investigates electronic hardware problems, understands
causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and
documents results.
Applies and improves electronic hardware
development processes and tools. Obtains input and negotiates with electronic
suppliers and software development teams and delivers prototype hardware to
application engineering teams.
Independent leadership and decision making of
smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products,
systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity.
Provides support and guidance to influence
technical direction within a project team and continues to develop proficiency
in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
Operates as a recognized specialist in a
discipline or product area within the immediate team.

To be
successful in this role you will need the following:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or
other relevant technical disciplines is required
Ability to obtain input from application software teams
regarding new trends in electronic control systems that would require new
sensing capability.
Develop Sensor Fusion & Data Fusion methodology to
optimizing sensing system architectures considering both physical and virtual
(model based) sensor options.
Seek out and establish partnerships with Universities, National
Labs and Industry entities.
Obtain stakeholder input from partner BU’s regarding future
sensing system needs via Voice of Customer process. Focus areas include
Hydrogen Fuel Cells, Battery Management Systems, Diesel and Spark Ignited
Exhaust Aftertreatment, Internal Combustion Engines, and PowerSystems.
Own State Observer technology roadmap.
Experience leading supplier collaboration opportunities via
Voice of Technology process.
Support the Product Planning group in technology portfolio and
innovation management using Technology Funnels and Product Roadmaps.
Collectively gather Competitive Intelligence regarding
approaches to controls systems and sensor application.
