Job Summary:

Central Intake is a department within the Central Billing office that is responsible for intake-related administrative functions including, but not limited to, creation of accounts, completion of primary and secondary insurance verifications (PIV), initial authorizations for therapy services from the insurance, additional authorizations for continuting treatment (if appropriate) and credentialing-related tasks.

Essential Responsibilities, as assigned:
• Creates and builds patient accounts, places the initial evaluation appointments on the schedule, attaches appropriate documents in TS and updates the referral log
• Completes primary and secondary insurance and verifications (PIVs), enters all insurance information 2-3 days prior to the initial evaluation and ensures that account types match insurance types and attaches verified PIV upon completion
• Obtains initial evaluation authorizations and associated treatment authorizations for all insurance types including WC
in order for the visits to be paid. Obtains continuing authorizations as assigned.
• Updates the patient account and informs clinic staff regarding authorization status.
• Follows up regarding pending authorization with MD office, adjuster or TPA
• Confirms that the insurance verified matches the information on the insurance cards attached in TS if available
• Ensures that insurance information obtained is linked to the correct claims address.
• Adds Referring Physicians in RT and updates patient accounts with physician information as directed
• Credentialing-related tasks
• Meets productivity requirements established for each function within the department
• Understands that our customers are both internal and external to the organization and that all staff is expected to uphold the Service Culture Theme and Standards
• Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal, oral (especially telephone) and written communication skills
• Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize to meet deadlines
• Medical terminology
• Ability to use all necessary office equipment, faxes, copiers, etc.
• Ability to interact well with other staff members, customers, field associates, and businesses.
• Ability to type 60 words per minute preferred.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Problem solving skills

Required Credentials:
• High School Diploma required.
• Medical office experience preferred.
