Job Description:

Riverbend Assisted Living is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team and help keep or residents engaged and motivated! The Activity Director is a key position in the Riverbend community, ensuring our resident interaction meets social, recreational and therapeutic needs.

Responsible for Coordinating Activities for Residents

  • Plan programs that motivate and involve residents in a healthy lifestyle

  • Operate the department within the prescribed budget.

  • Decorate for programs, events, holidays, special occasions in a tasteful and age appropriate manner

  • Participate in the development of service plans and in care conferences for Assisted Living and Memory Support residents.

  • Lead and/or fully participate in programs and activities, delegate’s activities when unavailable to lead and/or fully participate in an activity to other staff providing all necessary directions and supplies for the activity.

  • Provide plan, tools and training for care staff to enable the care staff to initiate and/or conduct scheduled and spontaneous activities to stimulate resident physical, mental and social function.

  • Collaborate with other department managers to coordinate activities/programs 

  • Create a monthly newsletter and activities calendar meeting 

  • Promote activities using the newsletter and direct interaction.

  • Develop and maintain a Resident Ambassador Program to assist with Leasing and Marketing efforts.

  • Develop and maintain a Resident Ambassador Program to provide residents with opportunities to volunteer within the community.

  • Shop for and maintain appropriate amounts and types of supplies for activities. Prepare necessary supplies for all activities for ease of implementation.

  • Oversees and coordinates with Activities Assistant to schedule, plan and carry out quality activities,

  • Take pictures during activities for the newsletter and social media

  • Maintain resident activity files and resident participation

Responsible for Development of Residents

  • Develop programs and activities that provide meaning, fulfillment, sensory, social, physical and cognitive stimulation to assist residents in maintaining or improving function.

  • Gain increased understanding of aging in place process.

  • Gain increased understanding of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Develop supportive relationships with residents and their families.

  • Promote family involvement in the community via scheduling of appropriate programs.

  • Support the independence and welfare of residents by encouragement and education.

  • Maintain positive relations between residents and the surrounding community.

  • Maintain a monthly newsletter that meets company guidelines.

  • Meet with new residents to develop a personalized program service plan, to explain current programs in the community and to encourage participation.

  • Represent the community and company favorably in the greater outside community.

  • Maintain positive relationships with the community.

  • Schedule and participate in open houses and special events to increase awareness of the community.

  • Work closely with the Leasing and Marketing department to promote the community.

  • Serve as a member of the Community Relations Back-Up team and assist in the leasing and marketing process to include:

    • Handling inquiries and making follow up calls

    • Conducting tours
