The Social Worker intervenes with patients who have complex psychosocial needs, require assistance with eligibility determination for social programs and funding sources, and qualify for community assistance from a variety of special funds and agencies. In addition, the Social Worker offers crisis intervention to patients and families with psychosocial needs and coordinates and facilitates the development of a discharge plan of care for high-risk patient populations. This role will receive referrals for individuals from at-risk populations from interdisciplinary team members (including physicians, Case Managers, staff nurses and other members of the care team). The Social Worker also performs intake assessment for patients with serious mental illness and substance use disorders. When necessary, they can appropriately diagnose individuals to determine the appropriate level of care needed. The Social Worker also assesses for suicidal and homicidal ideations, psychosis, and other mental disorders and makes appropriate referrals as needed. They can meet with patients in individual counseling sessions as well as conduct psychotherapy process groups. The Social Worker also performs utilization review functions, including conducting InterQual reviews and obtaining insurance authorization.

QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: Master's Degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program required

LICENSURE: Current Idaho Licensed Master Social Worker or Idaho Licensed Clinical Social Worker required


* Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required or obtain within 30 days of employment

* Current NVCI (CPI) or obtain within 60 days of employment

EXPERIENCE: Mental health and/or substance use treatment experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Requires excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge regarding community and facility resources, group dynamics and group processing. Must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism

and maintain confidentiality at all times. Ability to manage multiple priorities and be flexible. Requires good physical and emotional health. Ability to work on locked unit with potential combative/aggressive patients.
